Is dvdpricesearch.com obsolete now?

The NEW DVDTalk pricesearch at the top of these pages seems to work very nicely, it found OPEN YOUR EYES while dvdpricesearch still doesn't have it listed. I expect I'll be using this pricesearch and referall links more often than dvdpricesearch for single items, although I don't believe you can put together a "cart" of multiple items like at dvdpricesearch...

Anyone else use it yet?

How long has that been there? I just tried it and it looks really nice, lots of info. One thing I don't like about DVDPriceSearch was it never gave me a price for Amazon, which this one does. So I guess DVDPS is obsolete for me, I'll use this one from now on.

RandyM, You must make sure in preferences at DVD Price Search that your results "Always include Amazon".

Anyhow, I'm glad Geoff added this feature, it makes it nice to do a quick search for a DVD price. But I'll still use DVDPriceSearch, since you can do a lot of stuff there, like figure out what titles are greater than a certain % off retail at a particular store and stuff. Or if you're looking to buy a DVD for ~$15 in anamorphic widescreen and 5.1, and you have a coupon at this store or such. There's so much you can do with DVD Price Search, I just wish they added a few more e-tailers.

In any event, it's very cool that Geoff added this, and it should be good for a basic price search, without even having to leave the site!

I believe the DVD Talk Price Search uses the PriceGrabber engine....

Thanks for the tip LBPound23. I was always a little bothered that my searches never returned Amazon prices.

Nope, Its okay for a single title but not if you want to see everything a store has for like 40% off that I usually use.

But, its nice this feature was added to Dvd talk.

I dunno, I find that the customization features of dvdpricesearch gives me much more control than pricegrabber (which DVD Talk is using). I never liked pricegrabber too much, they have too many shady dealers (especially in the computers and camera section).

Doesn't handle international, and also places the "feature merchant" at the top, despite being an "unrated" site. I have no problem with the merchant being featured, but they should at least be rated.

Not ready for Prime Time

This doesn't look so good to me.

I searched on "Funny Girl" -- it's been added at dvdpricesearch, but not here.

I searched on "Forrest Gump" -- it returns exactly one store (ReelLove.com), some outfit I never heard of.

Notorious (Criterion)? -- Sorry, not added yet.

So, tell me again why this new feature here is so great? From what I've seen I think I'll stick with dvdpricesearch most of the time.

Thanks LBPound23. Life would be easier for me if I would just read the instructions once in a while.

I use dvdpricesearch.com to maintain my DVD want list. Just add them to the cart, save it & print it out. Now I have a handy easily maintained list to whip out when I'm making a purchase.

The list is up to 528 DVDs now so if anyone wishes to send money to fund my addiction feel free!

I check DVDPriceSearch every morning for the daily specials/coupons, and I reference stuff every once in a while. If I find anything I want, then I come over here, use the links, and do some shopping.

I had noticed that too, that dvdpricesearch didn't list Open Your Eyes (or Abre Los Ojos). I ended up ordering it from DDD and I received it last week.

This pricegrabber engine doesn't seem to want to get prices from buy.com which apparently has the lowest price of the more mainstream stores for the movie "Amores Perros" (unless you count some site called "reellove"). For that matter, pricegrabber didn't give prices for 800.com or barnes & noble either.

To answer your question, no, dvdpricesearch is not obsolete.
