I considered just contacting CS and notifying them of the error to avoid this whole fiasco, but their mindless disabling of my STL account (and failure to answer my inquisitive e-mails) in combination with their failure to notify me that I wouldn't be getting my Akira tin because they took too many pre-orders prompted me to post here instead. It's nice to know that every once in a while there's something I can do to get Amazon's attention.

Be very wary. In at least three orders I placed, Amazon simply charged the higher price, without ever asking for approval.

I hope they do that instead of cancelling altogether that way i can dispute it and keep it

The funny thing is I don't care for any of these movies. I ordered it knowing it will not be honored and hoping to get a gift certificate out of it like I did with the Hannibal missprice.

To avoid this, I always check my account status prior to the ship date just to make sure no shennanigans are going on.

And to the dude who doesn't like any of these movies - give Heat a try. For $10, it's worth it just to watch the Bank Heist/Gun Battle scene.

That's no guarantee. In my case, the lower price was confirmed in the emails, and my Account/order status showed the lower price all the way through the shipping date. However, the shipment confirmation showed the higher price and my card had already been charged at that point. Ultimately, DVDKrayzie is right. When they do that, you can dispute the charge and get it for free. But, in order to do that, you will have to deal with Amazon's CSRs in several emails (so you can document the problem -- most cards require you to try to resolve the problem with the merchant first), and at least a phone call.

When the lower prices were just subject to an email asking if you would approve the change, ordering on a super low price was an acceptable risk. But if my experience in the last two weeks with a couple of misprices and subsequent overcharges becomes standard for dealing with Amazon (and I hope it does not) -- Well, it's your call whether it's worth the trouble.

So... who wants some love for this ? Be quick!
