Is anyone still waiting for their July 3rd pre-orders to be processed? On another message board, I read of delays in receiving V. (Mine is with another order, and won't be shipped until end of month with Akira). However, two other items that I ordered are seemingly on a hold pattern are Gormenghast and Mobile Suit Gundam The 08th MS Team (Vol. 1). On the order status page, both are listed as "1 to be released: July 3, 2001", but when I check the product page, both say, "This title usually ships within 2-3 days."

Hmmm.... the only reason why I'm not calling Amazon Support (yet) is that if they push shipment out now, it will show up on this month's CC bill instead of nexts. Besides, on my "to be viewed stack" include Yojimbo and Sanjuro.

My order placed on the 3rd seems to be getting filled ok, though Amazon keeps shipping each item one by one. So far, three of the four items have shipped.

I still love shopping at Amazon!!

I have 4 July 3rd releases that haven't shipped yet. Every time I check the status online, the "estimated delivery" date gets farther away. These have "ships within 24 hrs" or "Ships within 2-3 days" on the items pages:

The Wedding Planner "Usually ships within 24 hours"
Dracula 2000 "Usually ships within 24 hours"
Logan's Run "Usually ships within 24 hours"
V The Original TV Miniseries "usually ships within 2-3 days"

I have emailed Amazon, but haven't gotten a reply yet.
I wonder what is going on??

I got an email from Amazon last night concerning my July 3rd releases. It seems that even though I had selected for them to ship separately, somehow they were waiting on Goonies to arrive before shipping! I have been assured that they have been released for shipping and should be sent out right away.
Maybe your order got caught in a similar glitch? Teri

I have the same problem with "V" and "Gormenghast".

I preoredered both of them and they both are slipping farther away in terms of the estimated shipping date. First it was shown as a pre-order, then after the July 3rd street date, both went to "Ships within 2 - 3 days". Now it has slipped again and is showing "Usually ships in 1 to 2 WEEKS"!!!

At first I thought it may have been a manufacturer problem, since both are from Warner Home Video and problems can arise from time to time with any manufacturer.

I went to Fry's in Woodland Hills, Calif (Los Angeles) yesterday and they had tons of V and Gormenghast copies on the shelves and V was on sale for only $12.99

I can only guess Amazon didn't order enough copies since they are trying to keep leaner inventories..................

I have emailed Amazon and am still waiting for a reply.

I know I'm probably pushing it, but my DIE HARD BOX SET which is to street July 10, shows on Amazon's site that it hasn't been shipped yet, although most who have ordered from other vendors have already received theirs.

There was a post last week from someone who already received their DIE HARD early. I know Amazon used to ship around street date, but I had heard that they were actually getting better by shipping before street date. I did have two other titles from another order that DID ship on Monday, day before street date.

Any word on whether Amazon is indeed getting better on shipping out items early?

My Thirteen Days arrived today from Amazon. My Die Hard Ultimate will be arriving today or tomorrow (shipped on Sunday as the Thirteen Days)!!!

Amazon consistently ships my DVD earlier, compared to what they did last year.

Amazon is always slow in shipping pre-orders. When I ordered a bunch from them, 3 of the 5 shipped 2-6 days late when it was "in-stock." I was real mad.

My pre-orders from the July 10th Weekend all shipped already July 5th. Sure they need a little bit longer to reach Europe but that was very early even for other On-line Stores!

Okay, this is getting wierd...

Blue Seed #2, which streeted on July 10th, got shipped today with the free shipping discount (!). This has been part of a four-item order that was shipped on April 12th, but the disc got delayed, so I forced shipment on in-stock items (Escaflowne #5&6, Spartacus).

However, my Gormenghast and Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team are still under "to be released" status.

That happened to me with Trigun 8. It was released on May 29th, but mine was in that status situation for about a month. THen I had to wait for it to ship. But when I got it, it was worth the wait!

Yay!
Anyway, call and bug them at Amazon. They upgraded my shipping.

A follow-up to my earlier post:

My DIE HARD BOX SET was shipped on Wed. from Kentucky (I live in Indiana) and arrived on Thursday. My second order from Amazon that was shipped on Monday (from Oklahoma) will not be here until Friday. How can UPS take 4 days to ship from Oklahoma to Indiana?

Things would be much simpler if Amazon would choose to ship USPS. I guess things are not really much better now with Amazon's shipping timetable.

According to Amazon, both V and Gormenghast have been shipped out to me on Thurs 7/12... Hopefully, other folks who are waiting for these dvds will be getting theirs soon also.

It took (midweek) 3 days for my dad's shipment to get from Jacksonville to Palm Beach ..Now, that is a LONG time.

As a followup...

Contacted Amazon late Friday afternoon. It looks like Amazon is running two sites... one for external viewing, the other for internal use. The internal database that Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team #1 showed "special order" status, while their external page showed "2-3 day delivery". The customer service rep asked when I last checked the page, and I said, "Just now". (Gee, I work at an ISP, how fast can I load a page in a new window?) After the CS rep confirmed the same on his side, the order was escalated to a "Order Specialist", who changed the order so that Gormenghast would ship immediately, and I would still receive free shipping on both products.

And, just as a note, I was nice to the customer service rep. This was slightly unusual.
