Warning, this thread is to allow everyone here to "freely" discuss the movie since it's so highly anticipated.

If you're a PVOD'er or SVODer, see you back here this Fall

Screenings start as early as 3pm today, There is a fan screening with a small giveaway (not a poster)
Seeing it at 6:15pm.

6:20 IMAX today. I stayed out of the other thread on here for the last 36 hours just in case of spoilers. I came close a time or two yesterday on social media but stayed off all of today to be safe.

I'll go with 3.5. Is it fun? Yes. Did I laugh? Yes. Most of the cameos I'd already known about, but it was still fun to see. But cameos don't make a movie. I don't think the overall plot was anything special.
No "CW Blade" here... the real motherfucker is in the building taking out those motherfuckers that are always trying to ice skate uphill! If you had told me Snipes would factor into a pretty good chunk this but there wouldn't be an appearance from a single OG X-Men actor, I would've said you're crazy... but here we are.
I guess they had to do a lot of the stuff with Evans separately on soundstage / insert digitally because no sign of him in those early leaked pics from that set.

I like that they referenced the mess the MCU has kinda become because of all this multiverse shit, but once I realized this was just more of that, I kinda just went for the jokes and the action, and felt there was enough of both to justify the ticket, I think. The soundtrack seems catered to Gen-X-ers and maybe older millennials (?). Frankly, I don’t see where this changes much about the current state of the MCU, although maybe other folks will? Just more canoodling within the multiverse to (I assume?) revisit a bunch of the supporting Fox characters one last time? I didn’t know about any of the cameos except for Garner, who must’ve been mentioned by someone in the other thread since I don’t ‘do’ social media or entertainment news for movies like this. For some reason, I had a gut feeling Blade would pop up, just because it made sense with the new version in the pipeline, so it was nice to have a completely uneducated guess be correct for a change. The other cameos were pretty clever, especially Evans and Gambit. I didn’t pay attention to the cast credits but that cowboy Deadpool sounded a lot like Matthew McConaughey. Was that his voice, as well as him in the suit?
And, since I know virtually nothing about the Deadpool comics (which started around the time I got out, and I despised Liefeld’s “art” and still do), are all those other Deadpools from the comics, or made up for the movie?
The 3D was really well done for a format everyone keeps assuming isn’t being done anymore.
Clearly several shots and sequences were designed with it in mind. Hopefully Disney continues their 3D Blu-ray releases in Japan, despite their gross overpricing.

Yea, McConaughey was Cowboy Deadpool. Blake Lively was Lady Deadpool. I doubt either were actually in the suits, just doing ADR.
Nathan Fillion was Headpool.

Interesting. Lively makes sense, for obvious reasons, but I wouldn’t have guessed that as her voice doesn’t stick out in my head despite having seen her in a few things, and my first few guesses definitely wouldn’t have been her as the body inside that spray-on costume (not that she couldn’t wear it well
).
The Wolverine variants were likewise fairly amusing, especially the one working on the motorcycle.
Almost forgot to mention that I was pleased to see a few snappy references to Canada tossed around. Thought I briefly glimpsed a Mountie Deadpool in that big street fight, too (maybe?).

Wow, how did they keep all the OTHER cameos under wraps? Watching them all in action was great, nice to see Blade get some love! Was Olivia Munn in the credits? We didn't get a close-up of that character. So, it seemed like Wolverine was set to walk away at the end (I was guessing to symbolize that he was once again done) but the last scene with Logan and Laura at Wade's place...could they do a Logan/X23 movie (I really like their scene by the fire)?
I gave it a 5 because it was just plain fun and had just enough emotional weight to it.
Oh, and let's be real...Peter is the hero of this universe! And of course, accurate height Logan

I went into this mostly blind...I only saw the theatrical trailers...was able to go in completely spoiler-free, and I had a blast watching this. It's REALLY funny. The more you know about Marvel/Disney history, the funnier it is. There's some great jokes for people who know how movies are made as well. It's completely "meta" and breaks the fourth wall multiple times, and it's great because of that. Die-hard comic book fans might be miffed it really doesn't take itself seriously, but I found it to be the best Marvel film since Endgame.
A+ perfect score from me.

Loved it... 5/5. I had kept away from almost all of the spoilers and cameos outside of the ones in the trailers. Definitely going to have to see it again in a few days as so much just flew by.
Theater was packed and laughing the whole movie. We even had one of the Deadpool variants come walking in just as the lights went down. He got a huge ovation.

Fun movie for sure, I don't think it's top tier - but it wasn't trying to be. I think for what it was going for it largely succeeded. Strong opening, I did feel some scenes started to lose momentum and dragged a bit here and there, but overall pretty solid. And I did honestly tear up during Jackman's fireside monologue. I watched Deadpool 1 & 2 once, but I can see myself revisiting this one multiple times. (certainly once more in theaters)
Can someone give a quick recap of the timelines? Were they in the MCU at the end or back in Deadpool's original timeline?

Psylocke appeared to be a different actress. Same with Lady Deathstrike, despite Kelly Hu currently being listed in the IMDb credits. I doubt she or Ray Park (if that's not him as Toad) would've been expensive cameos, but it looked like the returning non-speaking mutants were recast as budget-friendly multiverse variants.

Saw the 4:00 IMAX 3D showing . . . I looked at showtime and my auditorium was about 70% sold while the 7:00 only had 5 random, single seats left.
I largely stayed away from later trailers, conversations, etc. so much of it was fresh for me, and I'm glad it was. The whole thing was a crude, unabashed, and hilarious farewell tribute to Fox.
Going with a 4.5 just because I can't see calling this a 5-star. Even though it succeeds in everything it needs to do, there are times when it feels like violence and gore for the sake of pushing the buttons to see what Disney would let them get away with. If this is what Disney let them keep in, I can't imagine what they had to cut. This is a very different feel than the first two, yet stays true to the spirit. One of my knocks is the random and arbitrary return or non-return of the core characters, and the lack of use of the ones who were there.
Will definitely be seeing this again in the next few days, but won't bother with 3D next time. I'll agree with Brian T that there are scenes that were made specifically for it, but largely it was pretty flat and did not serve much purpose. I believe 3D works best not when things pop out at you, but when the depth extends backwards behind the screen, giving the world layers.
Lots of applause in my crowd. Lots of pops. Lots of uproarious laughter. Interesting crowd that was a wide mix of ages. TONS of the silly merch (that O-face bucket is stupid; the HeadPool one looks cool, but I'll pass) flying out of the concession stand. Overheard one guy dropping over $100 and another lady complaining after the movie that she didn't know the cup was $27. I don't know if it was or not. I wonder if they will ever release merch numbers since this seems to be a growing trend.
Really enjoyed seeing Ted Danson as Wade Wilson.

I loved it. The plot may have been a tad on the weak side but I didn’t think it mattered here. The fan service aspects worked out so well that it made me not care as much about the underlying story.
The humor was on point as usual for Deadpool. Reynolds and Jackman were both great, and the cameos were super fun. I’d like to see it a second time.
Also liked the mid credits tribute to the Fox movies instead of completely shitting on that universe, and of course the post credit scene had me rolling.

Like it. Didn’t love it. Reynolds schtick becomes very shallow and obnoxious when you have Jackman earnestly acting between the absurdity. The cameos were all brilliant, but the story was a mess and ultimately very inconsequential. B+

I saw it twice today. I gave it 4 1/2 stars. I didn't know about any of the cameos except Jennifer Garner as Elektra, but the theater erupted when Wesley Snipes showed up as Blade. Lots of inside jokes in that scene as well, such as Blade not liking Deadpool. "You never did" was Deadpool's response playing off of their friction on the set of Blade: Trinity. Glad that Channing Tatum finally got to do his Gambit, but he mumbled way too much for that to fit into an entire film centered on him. Overall, I really really enjoyed it and may go see it again tomorrow night just for the theater reactions.

That said, the 3D certainly isn’t crucial to enjoy a picture like this, but my fingers are still crossed that Disney hasn’t abandoned 3D Blu-ray in Japan yet, as this and (presumably) INSIDE OUT 2 might look pretty sweet at home.

Saw a 6:15 show tonight. I loved it. It was funny, had a lot of gory, yet fun action and it was very self aware. I laughed at the shots it took at Disney. I thought it was a nice send off to the FOX Marvel Universe. The end credits with footage of old X-Men EPKs was cool.
Jackman killed it. He looked great and kicked ass. The mask was a nice touch. Reynolds was being his usual self. Some might find his shtick annoying.
The Cameos were a surprise and they didn’t feel forced. I didn’t expect Wesley Snipes back as Blade or Evans playing Johnny Storm. The Gambit cameo was hilarious, especially Tatum’s goofy French accent. What made it even cooler was that not one second of footage was actually filmed of the character prior. It was a proposed and later cancelled movie. So he never even existed. So dumb of the trades revealing the Elektra cameo a year ago before they filmed. A little surprised we didn’t see Charles in some form.
Overall, a really good time and I got my moneys worth.
I only stayed for the hidden camera Johnny Storm post credits scene. I had to use the bathroom really bad and ran out after that. I heard there was one more. What was it?

By the way, spoilers are all over the place now including YouTube.
Deadline posted a video from tonight’s Hall H panel at Comic Con of the movie and all the cameo stars showed up. It was after a screening of the movie.

Wasn’t a big fan. Might have been a case of high expectations but feel like those should have been counterbalanced somewhat by the surprise of all the cameos. Got a few laughs but little else.
Did not like them breaking up Wade and Vanessa over Wade “Not being present” offscreen between films when that felt very out of character and their relationship was the backbone of at least the first film.
I liked Tatum as Gambit but feel like his costume was a little too close to the comics and should have been toned down a bit. Looked too plastic.

Meh, it was OK. A little Ryan Reynolds goes a long way for me. The Chris Evans twist was probably the best part. I was expecting cameos from all the original X-Men; there weren't any.

Caught this last night and enjoyed it overall. I went in knowing next to nothing about the cameos, just that there were going to be a lot, so I wanted to stay spoiler free, and it definitely added to the experience. This one definitely did NOT skimp on the fan service. In fact, that was probably what I saw as the movie's biggest strength and flaw. The first movie walked a fine line of appeasing fans of comics and comic book movies, but it could still be a good time for a casual movie goer. I really don't see this one getting much from the casual movie going audience, as it is very inside with most of its jokes. If you are a fan , you'll love it and laugh, but if not much there for you if you're not. That's why I think this, like many other comic movies, will have huge opening weekend and then drop like a rock once the fans have had their time with it.
I will also say that I have a pretty good history of seeing these big comic based event films on either a preview or opening day screening. Last night was still very fun, but I don't see myself rushing out to these anymore. This movie , with all of its shout outs to both the MCU and Fox comic movies that have dominated for the past quarter of a century , seemed like a very good jumping off point. Don't know if that was by design, but definitely how I felt. Probably more because I'm getting older and value sleep time more than anything else
, but I truly don't think there are that many more opening night movies that will interest me anymore.

I enjoyed the Tatum as Gambit role, but I have a feeling had they done a whole movie he wouldn't have gone all over with the accent. This one was obviously done as a goof more than anything else.

Went to the 3pm showing yesterday on premium format Dolby screen.
Loved it, gave it a 5/5.
~20hrs before showtime, my wife goes, 'Did you know Jennifer Garner is in this?'
Me:.... .... NO I DIDN'T FUCKING KNOW!!! I guess I know who she's playing...
I've been rewatching all the X-men; Wolverine and Fantastic 4 movies. So, I got Elektra in right before we had to leave for the theater.
Watched Logan again last night because she didn't remember it. We'll probably watch Blade before the next show.
Going to 3D version tomorrow.

I took a long lunch break to catch this today so that I could see it before encountering spoilers. I thought it was fun enough and fine, but fairly middle-of-the-road MCU. The viewing was somewhat diminished by a group of guys in their late 20s or early 30s who felt like they'd taken a pact to laugh at everything in movie, especially the cursing. Just really bad, over-the-top forced laughter that made the scenes less funny in real time, though not enough to completely spoil the movie.
I'll probably be in the minority, but I could've done without some of the cameos. Johnny Storm was really well done and it was fun seeing some of the old X-men secondary characters show up, but Blade & Electra felt like a question of who needed work. And Gambit was weird because I know Tatum was super enthusiastic about playing him some years back, but his performance felt stranded between being serious and a joke. If that's actually how he would've played Gambit in another movie, it's probably best we never got one.

Something that’s been lingering on my mind from this one is questioning whether Reynolds’ sense of humor is inadvertently (if not overtly) homophobic.
This film really ramped up the gay sex and gay arousal one-liners for shock value and punchlines. It felt less “Deadpool is pansexual” and more “ha ha that’s gay”.
