Jessica Alba stars in Trigger Warning coming to Netflix June 21. A skilled Special Forces commando (Alba) takes ownership of her father's bar after he suddenly dies and soon finds herself at odds with a violent gang running rampant in her hometown. Directed by Mouly Surya, written by John Brancato & Josh Olson and Halley Gross, and produced by Erica Lee, Basil Iwanyk and Esther Hornstein, Trigger Warning also stars Mark Webber, Tone Bell, Jake Weary, Gabriel Basso and Anthony Michael Hall.

I didn't know Alba still acts (I know she was in that Bad Boys spinoff that was like unavailable to most people)

MARLINA THE MURDERER IN FOUR PARTS is the director’s previous film from Indonesia — her third, actually, which did get some fest play and a dvd release here — which presumably led to this Netflix gig. This literally showed up from my library queue yesterday with some other titles, but I haven’t watched it yet. I just happened to notice it in the search results for something else. I had no idea she had the Netflix movie coming, so definitely some strange timing (although frankly TRIGGER WARNING feels pretty generic and rote, but then again it’s Netflix).

I follow the musician Otep Shamaya who has been threatening a lawsuit saying that she co-wrote the story/screenplay and was shopping it around with one of the writers listed, and only found out later that he sold it to Netflix without telling her. Interesting, when I google her name and the movie, it turns up the Wikipedia link giving her credit for the story, but when I click the link, her name has been removed under the edit "fixed typos"

I expected this to be bad, and it was, basically a Netflix DTV with a name star. Kind of amusing how Alba’s character is mentioned as being 30 when she was 40ish during filming, but she still looks good. She’s ok in the action, but her signature weapon is a knife which feels like forced badassery.
