Death and Other Details (Hulu) - S: Mandy Patinkin

How do you solve a murder in a post-fact world? Especially when sailing the Mediterranean on an ocean liner filled with the wealthy and powerful. Everyone on board is hiding something. but is one of them a killer? That's what the world's once greatest detective, Rufus Cotesworth, and his protégée aim to discover. The truth at all costs.

I didn't see a thread for this one yet. Wife and I watched the two available episodes last night. So far, it feels like Afterparty from Apple TV+, without the goofy comedy. I'm always in for a decent whodunnit so I'll be watching the full season as it releases. Good cast, too.

Started this as well, it's a very well shot whodunit and I will stick with it. Enjoyed the nudity too.

I wanted to like it but between Mandy's god-awful accent and all the time jumping I think I'm out.

We’ve liked the first two episodes, has a Murder in the Orient express vibe mixed in with some Knives out

Only one nit. The Body probably wouldn’t continue to stand up the way it was.
I think it would only be a few minutes for it to start to slump and basically moved down the wall just from the weight of the body.

The whole thing is obviously a response to the success of the Knives Out movies and Benoit Blanc definitely the inspiration for 'the world's greatest detective', but I'm a big fan of murder mysteries so I'll stay with it to the end, despite Mandy Patinkin's awful attempt at an English accent. Sometimes it's a bit Cockney, sometimes it's who knows what?

My personal peeve, though, is the old trope of the Interpol agent conducting an investigation and arresting the baddie. Interpol doesn't conduct investigations and they have no powers of arrest. Now, the Captain could detain passengers, but apparently this ship has no crew other than the security guards and the catering staff.

This week's episode certainly answered a lot of questions. Looking like this one may actually have an interesting ending.

I'm liking it; it's all over the place, but enjoying the ride. Only two episodes left (both airing next week).

I like the soundtrack. It's sort of a 30s Argentine tango vibe that you'd see in an Agatha Christie movie.

Haven't watched the final episode yet but I kinda saw the twist from episode 9 coming.
Spoiler:
Far too many mentions of Sanz being a man during the show. They went out of their way to say man/he/his to the point where I knew it was a misdirect.

I watched a few episodes a month or two back, and then drifted away, but this past weekend I started it up again and am now down to the last 4 episodes of the season. It is not the greatest series ever, but still quite enjoyable and a great cast. It is nice to see Violett Beane again on TV.

It's an enjoyable show but I wish they would have refined it all a little bit. It meanders in odd spots and not in a good way, but then it's fun and interesting at other times.

Ending was pretty bad, IMO. The twist was OK but most of what happened in the last episode was a mess.
Spoiler:
If the mother originally was just trying to disappear to survive, how did the name Victor come up in relation to her "death"? She went from person fleeing danger to criminal mastermind who was behind her own murder that quickly? And what do they have over the daughter in the end? I didn't see any usable proof that she killed her mother on the boat that's at the bottom of the ocean. Only the word of a criminal blackmailer who's in prison. Why would she comply?

The show was too bloated but was enjoyable, a shame it didn't get renewed.
