Beacon 23 (MGM+) - S: Headey
Hadn’t heard of this, but apparently starts tonight. Some cool visuals and different take on space weapons, which looks cool.

I thought about doing a thread for this, but hardly anyone in this forum subscribes to MGM+ But sure. And I also never heard of this until last week. MGM + shows aren’t exactly promoted well and Headey hasn’t promoted this at all because of the strike.
Here is the trailer that didn’t embed properly above. This is from the producers of the SyFy series Alphas. The showrunner wrote Ready Player One, Free Guy, X-Men 2 and the original Avengers.
Here is a more detailed summary
Beacon 23 takes place in the farthest reaches of the Milky Way and follows Aster (Lena Headey), a government agent, and Halan (Stephan James), a stoic ex-military man, whose fates become entangled after they find themselves trapped together inside one of many Beacons that serve as a lighthouse for intergalactic travelers. Every Beacon is run by one highly trained human and a specialized Artificial Intelligence. Aster mysteriously finds her way to the lonely Beacon-keeper Halan, and a tense battle of wills unfolds. Halan begins to question whether Aster is friend or foe, as her ability to disguise her agenda and motives could make her a formidable opponent.

Although the first episode started slow, and I'm not sure where they're going with this, I'm still interested. So I'll keep watching.

Just started this today. On E2 now. The production looks great and Lena is cool. The source material is from Hugh Howey who wrote the Silo novels that were later made into a series from Apple. Looks like Howey's work is getting optioned all over town.

It's a really cool show. Episode 3 had only 2 characters that had nothing to do with the primary cast and was set 180 years earlier on the same beacon. Nice touch.
Just finished watching Episode 5, so will go all the way with it.

Season 2 premieres April 7. I'm guessing the seasons were shot back to back
I canceled MGM+ to cut back on streaming expenses, but I will check out this show eventually.

Season 1 is now on Amazon Prime video if any non-MGM+ subscriber has the time to check it out. Don't know how long it will stay there.
