Richard Moll dead at 80

Richard Moll, the fun-loving actor who portrayed the towering and tenderhearted bailiff Aristotle Nostradamus “Bull” Shannon on all nine seasons of the popular NBC sitcom Night Court during its original run, has died. He was 80.

Moll died peacefully Thursday at his home in Big Bear Lake, California, his publicist announced.

I have to assume whenever Night Court 2022 resumes production, they will do something to honor him.

He was so wonderful as Bull. Loved him in House (the movie) as well. RIP.

Bummer. He voiced Harvey Dent/Two-Face on Batman animated series. .

Bull was such lovable character on Night Court. He played so well off of everyone else, particularly John Larroquette and Marsha Warfield.

I saw him pop up from time to time in different things but it never captured the magic he had on Night Court.

RIP Richard

This only leaves John Larroquette and Karen Austin still with us from the beginning of the show, and Austin was really only on the show for the first season.

For some reason I remember him from the pilot for Highlander. Pretty sure they were going for a Kurgen vibe.

He popped up in the strangest places. I was watching micro-budget horror indie Nightmare Man from the 2000s just this year and he makes an uncredited cameo.

When Ringo Starr and Dennis Quaid escape Richard Moll's Abominable Snowman in Caveman his whimper and shuffling off reminds me of Bull.

RIP Richard Moll

Nightmare Man is really good, too. Don't remember his cameo though.

Sad to hear, he was great on Night Court.

He also starred in 1984's The Dungeonmaster. I remember renting it on VHS back in the day because the metal band W.A.S.P. appeared in it. Not surprisingly, a pretty crappy movie.

TBH probably any movie that Moll appeared in had a high percentage of being crappy. I loved Dungeonmaster, too.

Re: Richard Moll dead at 80

The VHS box had Blackie Lawless prominently featured, that's what sold the rental for me.

That's hilarious, never made that connection. I just thought it was Moll with weird hair for some reason.

Re: Richard Moll dead at 80

I just saw Dungeonmaster for the first time a couple of years ago.

It's very, very... 80s. Really, the epitome of an 80s B-Movie. While it probably came out too early to be at DTV movie, it certainly has all of the hallmarks of one!

First thing I thought of was The Sword and the Sorcerer. Pure 80's cheese.

Another actor from my childhood has died. I remember him from watching NBC's powerful lineup on Thursday Night in the 1980s and 1990s.

It was one of the more fortuitous moments of his career that he had shaved his head for Metalstorm: the Destruction of Jared-Syn.
