Looks lame and what is up with showing a quick snippet of the film right before the trailer? They've been doing this for some time now and it's annoying.

Agreed. I'm seeing that in more and more trailers and I fail to see the purpose of it. It feels so out of place and basically just spoils the actual trailer.

I think it has to do with social media and if you're scrolling through and hovering over the video it plays that.

HUGE disappointment. I'd hoped by centering the film on an Indian-American family/lore the movie would have some fresh material for a horror film, but all that just becomes superficial dressing around the same, run-the-mill scenarios you've seen in all these demon/spirit/entity movies. I'd put this on par with The Boogeyman, right down to the awful design of the creature (which in this one seems to be a mix of Godzilla and the Predator, with Freddy Kruger's soul chest thrown).

I just got back from this. Disappointing IMO. It had some interesting ideas, especially with it centered on an Indian-American family and a deep dark mythology. But, it just ended up being a tired by the numbers supernatural horror movie with cheap jump scares. I agree with ^^^ it's on par with The Boogeyman.

Terrible creature design as well.

Just saw this. There were only 3 other people in the theater besides my wife and I. Of course they were seated right behind us and talked a bunch. We moved closer to the screen; they started talking louder. It got bad enough we yelled at them and told them to quiet down. They didn't so I went and told a theater worker. He must have peaked in since they quieted down after that.
That story was more exciting than the movie. I think it was better than the Nun 2 at least.

Saw this last night and this was by far the most interesting piece of the entire film, though Bishal Dutta rarely gives those wonderful themes time to breathe.

As you mentioned, any time the story brings up themes of assimilation and/or the stresses of 2nd generation children (of immigrants), Dutta quick pivots away to generic Horror tropes. The film isn't awful by any means, just incredibly disappointing given all the displayed connective tissue.

With that said, I absolutely enjoyed the casting of Samidha, Tamira and her family. Easy to root for characters in a Horror film when you actually care about what happens to them.
