This opens today, but in very limited release it looks like. Not playing anywhere near me according to Fandango.
Its playing at the Alamo Drafthouse in LA and that’s way too far for me.

It's weird as hell, and the main plot is a cliché.
But Tim Roth is fucking creepy and Hall is just amazing throughout.
I liked it.

Interesting psychological horror flick. I don't think I'd call any of it a cliche, it was a pretty original take on the subject matter, which is abuse/trauma/mental collapse. One thing I could partially relate to (and that I rarely see in film) is the psychological/emotional impact on a parent of kids leaving the nest for college. An argument could be made that THAT is the main thrust of the film. And yeah, Rebecca Hall is magnificent. This would make a good double feature with Alex Garland's "Men."

I didn't mind Men as much as most people seemed to, and this one definitely looks intriguing. I don't know if it has distribution up here in Canada, though. Some smaller productions seem to take forever to find their way past the border.

I watched this for the horror challenge. My brief list comment was:
In particular, that long monologue Hall gives (about 8 minutes with just a close-up of her talking) was mesmerizing. And yes ... Tim Roth was really creepy. Reading some other comments about this online, one thing that people are debating is:
I'm not sure if I liked this or not
Rebecca Hall really gives a tour-de-force performance. And it's rare that I have no idea where a movie is going right up until the end. ***1/2
