As They Made Us follows Abigail (Agron), a divorced mother of two, who is struggling to balance the dynamic forces within her dysfunctional family as she attempts to cultivate new love. Her father Eugene (Hoffman) has a degenerative condition that he and his wife Barbara (Bergen) refuse to accept, and her brother Nathan (Helberg) has been estranged from the family for decades. A self-appointed fixer, Abigail attempts to mend her complicated family's dysfunction before it’s too late.

Kinda made me laugh that they have 84 year old Hoffman playing a 73 year old. Basically a young buck...or something.

Wow. was this fantastic. The performances were outstanding. The core four: Hoffman, Bergen, Agron and Helberg were so good. This is Oscar worthy stuff imo. Just terrific. My eyes weren’t dry from the last 30 minutes till end. Haven’t cried like that since the movie Brooklyn. Just raw emotions and true to life stuff. Just great work from Bialik.

Maybe the first role for Hoffman in a decade since he has been mostly MIA the last couple of years.

This was good. Some really well directed, emotional scenes.
It is a shame Dianna Agron's career didn't take off very much after Glee. But she has been putting in really solid work in smaller films like Novitiate, Shiva Baby, and here. She really is great in this.

The Meyerowitz Stories was his last major movie in 2017 and Kung Fu Panda in 2016.

Agron was great in this and wish she was in more movies and playing the lead too and nice to see Hoffman in a movie and wish he would do more stuff or he is nearing retirement or picky about the roles he chooses.
They could have easily taken out the profanity and made it PG or PG-13 since it is a family film and some people or groups of people make a big fuss out of that.
