LG 4K tv help

Sorry for the first post being so long. Is my tv dying?

I have a 65 in LG 4kTv bought in 2015. It is model

65UM8500 Serial number 6TRMT T32667

It’s last software update was 05.60.15

I can’t find any information and no updates available. It is constantly loosing internet signal and the 4K seems to fade in and off and this is any source I’m using…internal apps, Xbox SX and PS5. I have 1.2 gig internet and the tv is in another room yet not more than 20 ft from the router. All other devices never lose signal

Sorry for the long post. Just thought It would last a little longer. Yes I’ve tried different HDMI cables

Why is your firmware so old? Just go to the LG site and grab the newest one. It’ll probably make a huge difference.

If LG doesn’t have your years model on their site, just contact them and ask for it. It’s probably archived somewhere.

Re: LG 4K tv help

I have the 60" version of this & the wifi is very unstable. Sometimes it's on, sometimes it's off & there is no way to turn it on. Seems to be a common issue with this model. I'd suggest either using something like a Fire Stick or using an ethernet cable if you want to use it as a Smart TV.

The software isn't that old, the 15 is not the year. But the latest is 05.65.03. It probably doesn't automatically update due to the above issue, but you can load to a USB drive via their website. I haven't found it much different.

I used to see the softening effect too when I had AT&T internet. That's probably more of a problem with your internet speed than the TV. It went away completely when I got rid of AT&T and went with faster internet with T-Mobile.
