Great entrances/first on-screen of an iconic character?

I’m watching Kong: Skull Island again and that first intro in 1944 with the American fighting the Japanese soldier and Kong’s hands come rumbling into view was excellent.

I know there are a ton more.

One I will say and though it’s a video game, **spoliers immediately following** but related to film of course. But, Darth Vader’s sudden appearance in Fallen Order was heart pounding and shocking to say the least.

The opening close-up of Alex staring directly into your face at the start of A Clockwork Orange. It's always the first image that comes to my mind whenever the movie is mentioned.

Darth Vader's entrance in A New Hope. Doesn't get more iconic than that.

The man behind the curtain in The Wizard of Oz. You can't get more iconic than what became in instant catchphrase, one still in use 80 years later.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's first appearance in The Terminator as he raises up from the bottom of the screen and begins to go off to his mission. Or Arnold's first appearance in Terminator 2 (technically as a different character) in a more refined, better shot appearance in the desert.

Doc Brown in Back to the Future. Marty skates into the Twin Pines Mall parking lot, sees Einstein and questions where Doc is. The back of the storage truck opens, DeLorean rolls out and Doc emerges.

Asa GWTW fan, this set of shots (preceded by tracking scarlet as she gos up the stairs and first notices him) is one of my all time favorites.

Though I suppose nothing will ever top IJ for me. That was a truly electric moment, seeing it on a huge screen in the theater for the first time.

Wow, you guys got almost all the ones I would have thought of. Great thread!

The only one I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is Kong's first entrance in KING KONG (1933).
