Anthony is 80, mischievous, living defiantly alone and rejecting the carers that his daughter, Anne, encouragingly introduces. Yet help is also becoming a necessity for Anne; she can’t make daily visits anymore and Anthony's grip on reality is unravelling. As we experience the ebb and flow of his memory, how much of his own identity and past can Anthony cling to? No streaming site or Directv carries it.
Hope the Blu-ray comes out in April or May.

I saw this today. Man is it depressing. It is more like an experience than just a film. Exceptional stuff.
Hopkins is amazing. I'm usually cynical about late in their career nominations because it feels like just "body of work" recognition, but between The Two Popes and this he is still killing it.
Olivia Colman was great too.

It was hard for me to sit through. While I can't fault the performances, some of it mirrored real life experiences that I've had that I really didn't care to revisit.

Yea... I would warn anyone who has experienced a family member or friend going through dementia, this will be extremely rough.

Watched this tonight and thought it was brilliant. Yes, the subject matter is not easy to sit through. But what a master class of acting all around. After finally seeing "Sound of Metal" last week, I thought Riz Ahmed blew the competition away. But Hopkins deserves the Oscar. However, we all know who is going to win. And I have very mixed feelings about that. That was not the best performance of the year. "The Father" reminded me a lot of "The Wife" in many ways. Another great film IMO. I give this my highest rating, 10/10.

Yeah, saw that it's available on demand for that price. No thanks. I can pay that much and get it on Blu-ray, which I will do.

Any other year, Hopkins wins hands down. Clearly Boseman favorite on a couple levels, but without him, Hopkins. Absolutely brilliant!!

Anthony Hopkins is everything but a newcomer and he gave many memorable performances during his long career. His most iconic being Silence of the Lambs, my favorite performance of his was The Remains of the Day, but I'm really considering if his performance in The Father is even better. It's a shame he won't win the Oscar this year. Don't get me wrong Chadwick Boseman gave a strong performance, too, but out of this year's nominees I rank him in third place behind Hopkins and Ahmed.

It was more of a experience than a movie as mentioned before and though it was not bad I returned the blu-ray I got from Amazon and maybe might see it again but not more than that.
