TIFF reviews are pretty positive, a few mentions of Brick and Zero Effect with most negatives focusing on the TV pilot aesthetics and terrible title. Rated R. In theaters October 16th.

I thought the movie struggled with tone. It's not really a funny movie, but it also doesn't really work as a drama or mystery. That having been said, I didn't dislike the movie.

So, a remake of Mystery Team?

I thought the script was pretty decent, but it needed better direction and style. It was alright for a rental though.

I enjoyed this, although it wasn't what I was expecting. I was hoping for a more lighthearted fun movie. This was pretty dark. It was well done and I'm glad I watched it. But I think if they lightened it up, gave it a few laugh out loud moments, it would have been a better movie.

this was actually pretty good as a detective/mystery movie. i liked how Brody, a once revered kid detective has really gone downhill and then finally saw some redemption.

it's not meant to be anything than a dark mystery type movie i think. there is no comedy, black or otherwise, as far as i could tell. just a guy struggling to live up to high expectations and on that level i thought it worked really well and quite enjoyed it and Brody's performance.

i mean he hasn't done a ton of big stuff since The OC show. lttle parts in Shazam! and a few others i remember, but this was bigger and he played it very well and you could see his torment throughout.
