Kiss Announce Final ‘End of the Road’ World Tour
Kiss are kissing the road goodbye once again, but not before embarking on one more tour. The rockers announced their final trek after a 45-year career during their appearance on NBC’s America’s Got Talent on Wednesday.
The group performed their hit “Detroit Rock City” to launch AGT‘s season finale episode before announcing the news. “This is going to be our last tour,” they announced onstage.
“It will be the most explosive, biggest show we’ve ever done. People who love us, come to see us. If you’ve never seen us, this is the time.
This will be the show.” The band has not yet revealed tour dates, but they said in a statement that their final shows will be part of a multi-year ‘End of the Road’ world tour and that they’d announce updates on their official website in the coming weeks.
This isn’t the first time Kiss has called it quits. In 2000, Gene Simmons said, “There just aren’t any more mountains to climb.
We want to go out in style with the people that put us here, the fans.” It did, however, turn out to be their final tour featuring all four original members – Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss.
But just two years later they were back at it. “People change their minds, and in this case that goes along with being a living, thinking person.
What one says one day with total commitment may at another time turn out not to be so,” Stanley said in 2002. “Am I doing this for the money or the fans? Both, and let’s not forget I’m doing this for me.”
In 2014, the four original members congenially appeared together, though they didn’t perform, for their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Last September, Simmons and Frehley performed together for the first time in more than 16 years for a Hurricane Harvey benefit. The current lineup comprises original members Stanley and Simmons, plus Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer.
“All that we have built and all that we have conquered over the past four decades could never have happened without the millions of people worldwide who’ve filled clubs, arenas and stadiums over those years,” Kiss said in a statement.
“This will be the ultimate celebration for those who’ve seen us and a last chance for those who haven’t. KISS Army, we’re saying goodbye on our final tour with our biggest show yet and we’ll go out the same way we came in… Unapologetic and Unstoppable.”

How many farewell tours does this make now for KISS?

MY son has never seen them so I plan to take him if they come back around here.
But I can't imagine what stupid price they are going to try to charge for tickets this time.

We'll see. This time I do expect it's for real, though. They've gotten old and Paul's voice is shot.

Even if Ace and Peter rejoined, being enthusiastic about a KISS show in 2018 is a tough sell for me, last tour or not. I only really got past being a casual fan when I picked up a bunch of their vinyl 4-5 years ago. If they had announced a farewell tour after Creatures of the Night or Lick it Up and had I been more than a year old at the time, I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Works for me. AS a diehard unapologetic fan it is time. As B5Erik mentioned Paul's voice is basically shot. I wonder how it will sound on this tour. When I saw them a couple of years ago it was pretty rough then. It took him at least two solid songs to get it on track.
I would bet tickets won't be that outrageous; even on the original reunion tour they were not that bad.
They better come up with a new playlist...it has been basically the same for a decade or more. AND they do know about those complaints...

Just one. The one that was actually called that. They then released a couple of more albums and did world tours behind them.

I will probably go...pretty sure I don't have the willpower to not see them one last time and I say that every time they tour and I go every damn time.
I could just wait for the eventual blu but...

I would love them to do a mostly balanced chronological set list all the way up to the last album, saving a few for a encore/closing.
I doubt it gets changed much other than maybe ordering, but I'm a fan and will be going regardless.

It would be cool if they did the same thing Rush did on their last tour. Play a set list that goes backwards in time complete with multiple songs they haven't played in decades.

Doesn't Peter Criss have MS?
I'd go again. Last time was in 2009 (Alive 35 World Tour) and it was a pretty cool show.

I would be all-in for a tour that included a setlist like I described above. I'm not into going to see them play the same 20 or so standards again. I looked at what I think was a setlist from the previous tour and they played the coupl singles off the couple albums with Thayer/Singer along with the same old "classics" played on every tour since they started putting on the makeup again.

They didn’t sound very good on AGT.
Though I find that hard rock and metal generally don't come off well on live tv programs, like the folks in charge of the shows are trying to mix it like pop music.

I'd like to see things like Watching You, 100,000 years, and Unholy replace War Machine, Crazy Nights, and Psycho Circus. And since Ace is gone there is ZERO reason to ever play Shock Me again.

Ideally, I would like to see a long running band do two passes on a "farewell" tour. The first shows would be all obscure stuff, billed up front as the show for the true fan. Pull out at least one or two songs never played live, and fill in the show with nothing but obscure songs not played in years (or decades).
The second time around would be the grand finale and be all the big hits. One big party as a sendoff.

I like #3 (get Ace Frehley to open for them) but it will never happen.

I'm a very light Kiss fan, only really knowing the hits and never seeing them live. Depending on a hundred different things, I'm considering seeing this tour. I think I'd probably have a good time. I apologize in advance for being one of the filthy casuals that muck up a concert for the diehards.

I just saw Ace open up for Alice Cooper last month at The Greek and he played a 10-song Kiss only song set.

Ace has always had sloppy vocals live but the music was great. He only sang about half the songs - his drummer sang the other half - his drummer has serious vocal chops, though. It was a cool set the crowd loved it and participated and sang.
