Battle: Los Angeles (2011, Dir-Liebesman, Eckhart)

Did a search and was surprised to not find anything. Supposed to be and alien invasion movie by way of Blackhawk Down.

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/O-CRTqkDDf4?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/O-CRTqkDDf4?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Looks pretty cool. Count me in.

Re: Battle: Los Angeles (2011, Dir-Liebesman, Eckhart)

Interesting tidbit from Deadline:

As the alien invasion movie Skyline is unleashed today by Relativity Media and Universal, Sony Pictures Entertainment has released a teaser for Battle: Los Angeles, a big scale alien invasion movie set for released in March. The battle between these two films goes beyond a simple same-subject rivalry; there is real bad blood here. As Deadline first revealed in August, SPE has made noises about seeking legal recourse because Skyline directors Greg and Colin Strause run Hydraulx, the visual effects house that created many of the effects for the rival film. The studio cried foul that the Straus siblings had access to every facet of Battle: Los Angeles's playbook and then went out and quietly made a rival film designed to hit the marketplace almost four months earlier. SPE never actually filed suit but there could be ramifications down the line if Skyline steals its thunder or if a case can be made that VFX innovations paid for by a film with 30 times its budget found their way into Skyline.

FWIW, I think this looks better than Skyline.

This behind-the-scenes contretemps is easily a more interesting story than you'll find in either of these two stupid movies.

And I'll bet Roger Corman's probably kicking himself in the ass for not having thought of this tactic himself back in the day.

She's been getting better as time has past; specifically Avatar and Machete.

I've always felt Libesman has a lot of promise as a director, but never really been able to deliver due to studio restrictions (i.e. Darkness Falls and the studio going to town on his version of the film). I prefer his "prequel" to Texas Chainsaw Massacre over the initial remake.

Interesting concept and I'm sure it'll be better than the terrible Skyline.

Eh, not really thrilled. For all of the hype and secrecy, it looks pretty plain. Maybe there's more there but it doesn't wow me.

Caught a screening of this a couple months back.. it was completely badass and never let up on the action. All the actors did very well and thankfully Michelle Rodriguez's role wasn't annoying like I typically find her to be.

Even though Liebesman's Texas Chainsaw sequel was extremely shitty, I'll probably check this out unless it's completely trashed by critics.

I saw clips from this at Comic Con, and it was pretty pulse pounding.

I certainly hope the Strause Bros. get sued into oblivion over Skyline.

I get your comparison but there seems to be a lot more "moments" in this trailer than the 5-7 we ultimately got from Terminator: Salvation.

Looks cool to me.

That's a relief. Every movie she's in I feel like I might like her, but she always falls short and you end up not caring for her character at all.

She's a lot more likable now. I was long tired of her angry badass persona.
