American Idol, Final 8, April 8 & 10 plus America Gives Back (April 9)
Tuesday: Final 8 sing inspirational songs, a one hour show.
Wednesday: America Gives Back, a 2.5 hour show starting at 6:30 CDT
Thursday: Chris Brown and Jordin Sparks perform "No Air," and one of the eight remaining finalists is voted off (per the show description).
So… who, if anybody, will be voted off on Thursday? Remember that last year nobody was voted off, but two were voted off the following week.
And I’ll come up with a compilation of the Top 5 picks soon.

I voted that Syesha Mercado gets the boot. The topic is so broad this week that KLC will have no problem finding some patriotic ditty.
I take it that if all I care about is performances and results, I can skip Wednesday's show?

And the picks for the Top 5:
If you want to enter still, just post who you think the Top 5 will be, in order. Deadline will now be the start of tonight's show, 7pm CDT.

"Inspirational songs"? This is gonna be brutal. Archuleta will be unbearable.
What's the over/under on "I Believe I Can Fly," "Wind Beneath My Wings," and "The Greatest Love of All"?

Wow, Jason really does want to go home doesn't he? Stupid choice by Carly, why she keeps singing songs knocked out of the park by other contestants I'll never know.
Johns great choice. White great choice.

I was really surprised but Jason Castro did pretty damn good. A ukulele? He has to be high to get out there and do some of these songs.
David Cook was god awful.

What's with the neckerchief, Michael? I like the song choice (wait, was that Sinbad in the audience?
), but there wasn't a whole lot of range to his vocals, save the final screams. It also felt too much like an impersonation of Steven Tyler than an actual performance. Dammit, Simon, stop stealing my comments.
at Randy claiming this is a singing competition.
Syesha, I love you, but don't tell me that singing crappy songs on a TV show for adolescent girls is going to save the world. While I typed that, some kid just died because Fantasia was too busy singing to give him a mosquito net. That said, this was better than the original. Suck it, Randy.
Whoa, Jason's singing the IZ version? It fits his personality perfectly, and I like that someone on the show actually thought of it, but no one should ever do that. Ever. Simon calls it "that Internet version"? WTF, he really lives in a bubble. Rest in peace, Bruddah IZ.
KLC's interview segment was a wreck. At no point in her rambling did she even come close to an intelligent thought. I award her no poin-- oh, look, a low-cut top! Talk about Chihuahuas. The vocals were just average, but for the first time since "Amazing Grace", I feel like she believed in the song and believed in herself. It made it far more palatable than usual and borderline enjoyable.
Uh oh. David Cook's trying to actually sing tonight. Not smart. "This is my nooooooow!" Make it happen, America. I softened on him last week, but that was ass. He's smart, though, and will be growling with a guitar in front of Rocker Video Background #3 next week.
Carly, Carly, Carly. If the Idol stylists can't help you find an outfit that doesn't showcase the flab around your waist, hire someone privately. Normally I think it's a terrible idea to tackle Freddie Mercury, but this time ... yeah, it's still a terrible idea. What's another word for "ass"? We'll just call it a "Carly" for now, because she butchered the shit out of that song.
I like how Giggles says this is a difficult night. Please, we know his programmers had tonight specifically in mind when they drew up the first schematics. Very solid vocal performance of a great song, but it didn't make me feel anything and would just blend into the background if the others weren't sucking so hard.
Brooke White? Carole King? I never would have thought of those two together. I've soured on Brooke a little in the wake of destruction she left after ruining "Jolene", but I figured this would be a perfect song choice for her. I was wrong. What's happening to her? She turned "Jolene" into a happy-go-lucky mosh-pit-clapping disaster and now makes "You've Got a Friend" a somber dirge.
I really, really want to like her, but she's crumbling.

I kept on expecting "Taxicab Confessions" to start when I was listening to Jason Castro - that version was by a different person, but was close (the Gimmee Gimmee's).
I liked it, and oddly enough, I also like David Archuleta tonight. David Cook was very weak, as was Carly Smithson.
My vote to go home this week... Syesha Mercado. Was just an OK performance by a singer on the fence, plus she had an early slot.

I'm no fan of Fantasia, so anyone doing that song would have done it more justice than she ever could... all she does is scream.
That said.. I think it's Syesha's last week... only because I don't think she has the fan base to sustain her.
I wish Brooke would do something w/ her hair.. she looks very matronly and tonight she looked like something from the 70's. Maybe that's the look she was going for? To me, it just dates her.
Jason was great tonight, but he sang this song last week and the week before and the week before that. Same ole.. same ole.
But, he does it very well. He'll make a great folk singer.
Carly, David Cook and Michael John... eh. neither here or there.
Carly could be in trouble too.
I'm happy that David A has stopped licking his lips. But, he does look exhausted.. even Paula said something about it... she should know, she's the queen of the insomniac. I keep thinking this kid is under too much pressure and he really doesn't want to be there.
Bottom three: Syesha, Carly and possibly Kristy (I think Michael deserves to be there this week, but probably won't)
