Anyone interested in talking about theme songs/opening credits?
Someone made a comment in the DDD bargain thread about the Firefly theme song and how memorable it was. I agree and it's probably the only theme song I actually listen too whenever I watch an eps (usually I just FF/skip to after the opening credits). What are some other memorable/favorite themes? Do you prefer just music or are lyrics ok? What's your favorite? Which show has the best opening credits?

I pretty much always FF through opening credits.
Although I love the imagery of the opening of Enterprise, the theme song is chalk-board annoying.
The theme songs to Angel and the old version of Alias would always get a listen. I watch the openings to CSI and CSI Miami because it's sounds great in 5.1.
Of course, the theme song to It's Garry Shandling's Show has to be mentioned.

This is the theme to Garry's show
The theme to Garry's show
Garry called me up and asked if I would write his theme song
I'm almost halfway finished
How do you like it so far?
How do you like the theme to Garry's show?
This is the theme to Garry's show
The opening theme to Garry's show
This is the music that you hear as you watch the credits
We're almost to the part
Of where I start to whistle
Then we'll watch the Garry Shandling Show
Whistle whistle whistle

You woke up this morning
Got yourself a gun,
Mama always said you'd be
The Chosen One.
She said: You're one in a million
You've got to burn to shine,
But you were born under a bad sign,
With a blue moon in your eyes.
You woke up this morning
All the love has gone,
Your Papa never told you
About right and wrong.
But you're looking good, baby,
I believe you're feeling fine, (shame about it),
Born under a bad sign
With a blue moon in your eyes.
You woke up this morning
The world turned upside down,
Thing's ain't been the same
Since the Blues walked into town.
But you're one in a million
You've got that shotgun shine.
Born under a bad sign,
With a blue moon in your eyes.
When you woke up this morning,

I don't watch "Alias", but "ANGEL" features my favorite theme...and the extended CD version is great. (Though it is my all-time favorite show, so I'm biased)
The "CSI" series 'themes'- severely edited "Who" songs, are the only themes I like with lyrics.
"Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (all versions), "Voyager" - Goldsmith's theme being the one great aspect of that show, and the theme to "Boston Public" are also favorites.

I usually FF through opening theme songs, but a few I'd always end up watching:
Jack & Bobby
Buffy
Boston Public
and the previously mentioned:
Twin Peaks
Angel
Star Trek: DS9

I'll agree with many all ready mentioned; Six Feet Under is incredible, Sopranos is great, Firefly- love it, Twin Peaks awesome, etc.
And I'll add Serial Experiments Lain which uses the song "Duvet" by Boa. I've rewatched my copy of this anime series many times and I've never skipped the opening theme. And while I'm mentioning anime, I guess I'll mention Cowboy Bebop's "Tank" too.

The Dead Zone theme song was my favorite until it changed this season. Ended up liking the Firefly song but took half the series run at least for it to grow on me..I thought it was horrible at first.
