Ozzfest 2004 headliners announced

Not a metal fan but thought I would post this for those interested from entertainment weekly.com...

All aboard, hahahaha! The crazy train that is Ozzy Osbourne's annual Ozzfest tour is right on track, even after Ozzy's near-fatal ATV crash in December. Billboard reports that Ozzy will headline a metal-monster bill this summer that includes Slayer, Slipknot, and the reunited Judas Priest, featuring singer Rob Halford and the rest of the lineup from the band's early '80s heyday.

The summer shows will mark the first performances since the accident for the MTV reality star, who made a surprise appearance as a presenter at Sunday's Grammy Awards -- wearing a neck brace but up and walking, Ozzy quipped that he was happy to be anywhere. Such details as dates and venues will be announced at a Los Angeles press conference next week, Billboard reports.

Well, so much for seeing Priest.

Why do they need to open for Ozzy? They're the most anticipated reunion since Maiden.

How the hell can Ozzy still handle touring? The guy looks like he can barely walk on his show.

Howard Stern used to joke about it but I am starting to believe we may one day see Sharon roll him out in a wheel chair in order to keep bringing in the money she loves to spend.

I wish Ozzy would just stop doing Ozzfest and just go on tour alone.

This is actually a good question. Showing my age, the last time I saw Ozzy live was in the early 80's....82 or 84, I can't remember. Seeing him on TV the last 2 years, I can't believe that this guy still has a stage presence that would make someone want to go see him. So, what's the appeal of seeing Ozzy in 2004...does he still have it???

If Priest doesnt tour separately, this may be reason enough to see Ozzfest this year.. (plus Slayer, BLS and Ozzy aint too bad on my ears neither)

Slipknot headlines the second stage due partly to the fact that they like it having a mosh pit.

hmm, not interested in any of them. Unless there's something really worth seeing, I'll be saving my $50.

Did somebody say Slipknot?! I am there! Hopefully it will come to Charlotte since I live about 3 miles from the amphitheater.

I'd love for some nu-metal bands to be on that bill, just so Slayer could kick their asses.

This sucks that Judas Priest is playing the NU-Metal fest, but then again maybe some younger kids will learn just how much better REAL metal is compared to thier Nu-Metal, when Priest blows them all off the stage. Well 'cept Slayer.

I really feel sorry for whomever has to go on after Slayer. They are a hard act to follow. At least they used to be, I havn't seen them in over ten years, so I'm just asuming they still kick major ass live these days as well.

Yes,

SLAYER does still OWN when it comes to a live show. Last time I saw them they played the ENTIRE REIGN IN BLOOD ALBUM!!! I can now die a happy man. I'm pissed though because I recently read an interview with Kerry King saying he didn't want to do Snoozefest this year because he hated playing outside in broad daylight for 45 minutes when they could headline their own gigs and give the SLAYER fans their moneys worth and put on a much better show.

I'd also like to see Priest headline their own gig as well.

I also feel sorry for the band BEFORE Slayer - the anticipation of seeing Slayer usually leads a band to be booooooed off the stage - like when I saw Skrape in this position.

I'm not into Slayer myself, but I do remember them sticking out out when I went to Ozzfest a few years ago. They just seemed to be very on point that day. They definetly have some crazy fans though

It's hardly a Nu-metal fest. Here's the rumored band list.

OZZY OSBOURNE
JUDAS PRIEST
SLAYER
DIMMU BORGIR
SUPERJOINT RITUAL
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY
SLIPKNOT
HATEBREED
UNEARTH (tentative)
EVERY TIME I DIE
LAMB OF GOD
ATREYU
BLEEDING THROUGH
