a few guns and roses questions and a poll.
first off, why are there three diferent versions of use your illusion, there was 1, 2, and a greatest hits collection, which one should i get and why. second how bad is axl with the swearing, is it non stop like eminem or is it very few and the pa sticker is just there to make them look cool. third which song is this:
" and a bitch slap comming and the cocain stops and we're here lying on the bed..." it was featured in terminator 2 (begining with john and the other kid on the bike). and to the poll question, would you buy the new "chinese demorcracy" cd when ever it comes out?" i picked "hell no, g&r isnt the same with out the other band members"

I used to be a HUGE GnR fan. I doubt they're new album will be as good as any of their old stuff, and if I did go ahead and buy it I know it'll ruin my memory of an excellent band.

I think Im gonna wait for a few reviews, and most likely will get it.
The fact that it will be one of FEW REAL ROCK albums out,I will get it.
It has been some time since the G&R have been about, but I think this is a good thing.Could be a start in the return of rock era.I hope so anyway.
As far as BUCKETHEAD.......
That guy is one of the most underated guitar players out there.
He may be strange to look at,but he can play a hell of a lot better than some guitar players that people praise.
I think he will be great for the band, bring in some real good guitar quality.
Thats just MO though.

First, the Use Your Illusion album was really a two cd album that was released in two parts. Both CDs have very good songs on them (if you like GnR), and each have very good songs that the "combination" CD doesn't have. Considering that the Use Your Illusion album is really both UYI1 and UYI2, I'd say you need to get both and forget the greatest hits CD.
Second, the song you're thinking of is "You Could Be Mine", and you have the lyrics wrong. The chorus is:
This song is only available on Use Your Illusion 2.

'Cause you could be mine
But you're way out of line
With your bitch slap rappin'
And your cocaine tongue
You get nuthin' done

I couldnt tell you what one to get as I have UYI I and II
I did not pick up the third.
If I were to pick which one,I would have to say UYI II
It had better songs IMO.......
Civil War
Yesterdays
Knockin' On Heaven's Door
Locomotive (Complicity)
You Could Be Mine
Don't Cry (Alt. Lyrics)
UYI I had.....
Live And Let Die
Don't Cry (Original)
November Rain
Those are the best on that one.
The third was just a combined UYI I and II
You could go with that one,but will miss a few of the good songs.
This is just MO though, alot of people like I better than II
If you can find them cheap enough, get both, they are both great albums.

I've heard of Buckethead, but never actually heard him until this. I can't see GnR's original fan base giving him a very warm welcome, though.
BTW, I voted that GnR wasn't the same without the others, but I also wanted to vote that this CD will probably never come out.

UYI I was harder, and in my opinion, what Guns and Roses was all about. I liked UYI II just fine, but it wasn't my favorite.
It's been a while since either of these were in my CD player, but:
UYI I:
Great
Right Next Door to Hell
Live and Let Die
Don't Cry (Original)
Perfect Crime
November Rain
Coma
Good
Dust and Bones
Back Off Bitch
Don't Damn Me
Bad Apples
Average
You Ain't the First
Double Talkin' Jive
The Garden
Dead Horse
Poor
Bad Obsession
Garden Of Eden
UYI II:
Great
Civil War
Don't Cry (Alt. Lyrics) (but the orginal lyrics are better)
Good
Yesterdays
Knockin' On Heaven's Door
Shotgun Blues
Locomotive (Complicity)
So Fine
Estranged
You Could Be Mine
Average
14 Years
Breakdown
Pretty Tied Up
Poor
Get In The Ring (didn't hold up well in retrospect)
My World (ugh)
To answer the Chinese Democracy question, I'll have to wait to see if I'm going to buy it. At least what passes for Guns and Roses these days still has Axl Rose in it. Despite how much I think he's an ungrateful spoiled brat who ruined the band, his voice is very distinctive, and it simply would not be GnR without him in the band -- period. Then again, I'm not sure the band is GnR without Slash either. But, I'll wait and see. I'll download the MP3s when it comes out, and if I like it, I'll buy it.

" and a bitch slap comming and the cocain stops and we're here lying on the bed..."

I picked "Other". I'll buy the album when it comes out (and it will come out, eventually). However, I don't think they're "still going strong and kicking ass". I'll buy it, regardless of what the reviewers think, and form my own opinions on it. I'm expecting the worst, and hoping for the best with it. I will consider this a "Guns N' Roses" album in name only, as that's what they are. Everything that made up the old Gn'R is gone forever now--yes, even Axl himself is radically different from his late 80's-early 90's rock god self.
The "Use Your Illusion" album--containing tracks from both UYI I and II, was created, as I understand it, because "family-friendly" retailers like Wal-Mart and K-Mart wouldn't carry the separate albums, with the language issues. So its basically a "Best of UYI" album, containing the big hits from both albums, and no songs with adult language.
In terms of which one should you get, well, get the compilation if you're a casual fan, only looking for "November Rain" or something. If you're a bigger fan, then get both I and II. Don't get one of them--get both, as each one features some classic Gn'R songs. II always sold better than I, as it featured more well-known songs like "Civil War", "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", "You Could Be Mine", and "Estranged".

Get "Use Your Illusion" 1 & 2. You'll be missing some great songs if you get the single disc version. "Coma" might just be the best song they've done.
As for "Chinese Democracy", my expectations for it are so low, that even a god-awful song might sound decent. Does that make sense? Anyway, to call the band Guns n' Roses at this point is nothing but false advertising. It would be the equivalent of John Lennon keeping the Beatles name after going solo.

Well, I've been listening to GnR for the past few hours (hey, thanks!).
I'm not sure that my original assessment of songs on UYI (going on memories of ten years ago, and a few casual listens in the past few years) was correct, but I'm going to stand by it, because it's pretty close, there's nothing that would move up or down more than a category.
In the end, I'm upset. I'm mad because though the band sounds a bit dated today, they had the potential to do great things and squandered all of it away (much like another band with the initials MC). Live Like a Suicide wasn't great, but a decent demo album. Appetite for Destruction was undoubtably the best thing they ever produced, and I'd even go so far as to say it deserves classic status in a few years. Great stuff, few bands produce albums this consistently good. Lies was a pathetic rehash of the first album, and in my opinion had only one good song on the whole album, which unfortunately was one of the best songs they ever did -- Patience. Use Your Illusions had the markings of a great album, and it could have been if the best had been culled from each album, and the truly bad had never seen the light of day. Sadly, the "compilation" album didn't accomplish this, and the two CDs as a whole come off as ... well, I think inconsistent is a pretty good word. Some really great stuff, but some really bad stuff too. A lot of mediocre stuff that really didn't justify two CDs. This album could have been another Appetite, but instead it's just a testament to Axl's arrogance.
Spaghetti Incident? Ugh. I don't think I've heard a worse piece of **** album in my life. Granted, I don't generally go around listening to crap, but this is pretty bad stuff. The only reason that it's still in my collection is that I was never been able to get a used CD store to buy from me, and now I just don't care.

Well, since Axl owns the rights to the name, he could put the Frank Sintra orchestra up there and call it Gun's 'n Roses. The next cd may not sound like the old Guns, but most people will tell you that the new Metallica cd's don't sound like the old Metallica cd's. You can't please everyone.
If you are going to get G'nR cd's, you should get everyone except the Spaghetti Incident.
I chose other on your poll because I want to hear a few songs off the new cd before I'll buy it. Sometimes the reviews are off.

My thoughts:
- Axl should just rename the band.
- The band was never the same without Izzy.
- Lies is a fantastic EP.
- Ain't It Fun and Black Leather from The Spaghetti Incident are great GNR tunes.
- Appetite for Destruction is one of the greatest rock albums of all time, up there with Exile on Main Street and Who's Next.

i think the new band sounds great.
the past is the past. if you love Slash so much then go down to your local used cd store and buy Slash's Snakepit in the used cd bin.
it should be fairly inexpensive.

My favorites from UYI 1&2:
1:
Dust N'Bones
Live and Let Die
Dont Cry
Double Talkin' Jive
November Rain
The Garden
Garden of Eden
Coma
2:
Civil War
14 Years
Yesterdays
Breakdown
Locomotive
So Fine
Estranged
You Could Be Mine
I never really liked the Knockin on Heavens Door version on this album. The live version from the Ritz has always been the true version to me.
