DS: Hotel Dusk room 215

Hey guys. Anyone else playing this? If you have a ds, you need to get this game. I got it over the weekend and it's by far my fav DS game. When the DS was first announced, this is the type of game I couldn't wait for. I recommend everyone go out and get this great game.

I bought a copy, but ended up taking it back. While I would have enjoyed the game, it felt like spending $30 on a one-shot game with no replay value. I ended up with Mario Kart instead.

Too bad, did you try it at least? supposedly it lasts about 16 hours, which is a good amount of time for a game like this. Don't get me wrong, Mario Kart is a must own. I would suggest at least renting this one. I'm a few hours in and having a ball with it.

Why wouldn't you pay $30 for it?

it doesn't seem to get any real benefit from the DS controls. I'm after the new Diddy Kong racing, personally

The problem is that depending on the size of the release, you might not see it ever drop lower, even used.

Dudes, get it from Buy.com for $22.39 shipped after Google Checkout: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...queryType=game

Shipping makes the deal merely great instead of unbelievable. Got mine the day after I placed my order.

I love the old school adventure games. Heard this was good too, but I'm hesitant about picking it up.

Might do the buy.com deal though.

Not a big fan of point and click adventure games in general, and don't like to shell out $30 for games with no replay value.

I get the first part definitely, but it is a 15-20 hour game to finish and to me makes it well worth $30. I've paid $50 for good RPGs with 15-20 hours of gameplay.

They go hand in hand. I'll pay $30 for a 15-20 hour game in a genre I love regardless of having no replay value.

But being a cheap ass, I won't shell it out for a game in a genre I'm not a huge fan of.

To be fair though, there isn't much beside Mario, Metroid, Zelda and Castlevania that I'll pay full price for.

I take your words... but there's always sales and deals, i doubt this game is gonna be one of those hard to find type. Like Castlevania DoS, it's pretty much everywhere at $30-$35, but it's impossible to find when it's $10.

I'm sure it will be around when TRU hosting the famous B2G1 free deal. As for not even lower price for used copies? I highly doubt that... I predict $19.99 as the used game price in two months.

Most stores only got 2 copies, if that, for release day.

In this case I'd pass.

Handheld games I'm more willing to pay full price since it's $30-35 versus $50-60 and handheld games are much slower to drop in price.

But I won't pay full price for "on the fence" games. Rather save the money for games I know I'll love.

I am a huge fan of the old "point & click" adventures from back in the day, so I had to pick up Hotel Dusk. I played through it in about 2 days and I really enjoyed it. It wasn't a very difficult game; in fact, the game pretty much tells you what to do next at every turn.

I paid $25 for the game and I feel it was money well spent. I got about 22 hours play time out of it, which is way above the norm for a DS adventure game. I'm not sure if there is anything different if you play through the game a second time - if anyone finds anything different, please do post it. I'm curious, but don't want to go playing through a second time with Lunar Knights coming next week.

I bought it, for $35 CAD. I haven't opened it because I'm worried that it won't be my type of game (I don't like the Myst games and I've only played a couple point and click games, liking only one of them.) I may just take it back and get Final Fantasy III instead.

What exactly is the gameplay like?

Is it a good game for beginners, playing games in this genre for their first time?

Is it interesting?

To move around, you use the stylus. your character will walk in the direction of the stylus. Very easy to do.

The puzzles are very similar to resident evil type games....find items and use them when necessary. The cool part about it is the touchscreen. There are some very intuitive puzzles thanks to the screen.

There is a lot of reading as you are often talking to other characters in the hotel. The reading is interesting most of the time as it usually advances the storyline. The dialogue is great.

Yes, the game is very fun. I love it so far. If your not into these types of games I wouldn't recommend it but it really is a great game.

are you kidding me? this game has multiple endings. each playthrough is roughly 15-20 hours.

and apparently there are 12 multiple endings so idk what youre talking about a one shot game. not to mention the story is simply great.

Started it today and so far I'm very impressed. Definitely a very unique take on the point and click. Love the way they are using the features of the DS. The rumble pak even works with it in a minor way.

This is the kind of game I love the DS for. It wouldn't work as well on any other portable and wouldn't be nearly as relaxing on the PC. It's just fantastically adapted.

Plus, it's a great game to play before bed, and plays out like a cool interactive novel .
