DDD 20% sale - ON NOW

The Deep Discount DvD Bi-Annual sale starts the 10th of November.

CAVEAT: In the last 24hrs, (Nov 9th) pricing on many TV season DVDs has increased substantially. In many cases, substantially higher than Amazon or other competitor's current pricing. This seems to indicate anticipation of the sale and not regular price fluctuation. Shop carefully!

*Codes that should work (11/10 - 11/18):

DVDTALK
USATODAY
NYTIMES
SUPERSALE
DDDCD
DD1110
DVDPRICESEARCH
LATIMES
ESPN
YAHOO
JIM
WGN
XM

Let the frenzied planning and buying begin.

Anyone can email me new codes and I will add them to this list.

*thanks to Scrabbler on FatWallet

I think it would be a good idea to go ahead and start looking for some great cheap titles, the $4-$6 range, to post in this thread.

I, for one, will remain selective...

I will only buy this:
TWILIGHT ZONE COMPLETE DEFINITIVE COLL.

That should keep me busy, of course...

Already? It seemed like only a couple months ago when they had the last 20% sale.

Ok, not to dampen your spirits or anything, but you all realize that Saturday is Veteran's Day right? That leaves the entire weekend where packages going thru USPS won't move.

It's not like I'm going to watch them when I get what I order anyway. I still have movies I haven't watched from the last sale.

And you think your order from Friday is going to ship on Saturday? I'll chalk that up to overexcitement about the sale. Anyone ordering on Thursday night/Friday morning will be EXTREMELY lucky to have their items ship out on Monday. Nothing's going to make it out on Saturday, holiday or no.

Why? I mean, to each his own, but I've always found the sale to be better for the high-end items. What's an extra dollar saved? Sure it's nice, but I'd rather spend my money getting the really expensive stuff that I've been waiting for.

I am sorry to everyone but I never understood the facination of this sale. I do however understand we all get to spend our money on whatever we want...YAY freedom! But, why this, I mean shopping around throughout the year, I can find all of these DVDs cheaper at different locations then the $8 off DD saves. But that is me, sorry for thread crapping, I just never have said anything and I needed to vent. Love for all.

Excellent. I have a wishlist all set up. It would have been great if this sale went on into the 21st but oh well. It's still quite nice.

For the most part DDD has the cheapest prices around add that to 20% off you are saving alot more that just a few bucks.

In the past, I have received shipping confirmation e-mails on a Saturday. Last June I got shipping notice on Friday and the order was here the next Thursday (6/15).

icarwngs55 is right - prices have been cheaper for a lot of DVDs at other times, like the recent B1G1 deals. Yet, the 20% off deal seems to generate the most frenzy. I guess not everyone does much planning.

I think it gets the most attention because unlike alot of their sales throughout the year (and they have some great ones and some not so great) virtually all of their stock is on sale. There are virtually no limits on what you can and can't buy. Add that to their low prices and you got the makings of finding something worthwhile.

I for one enjoy getting the expensive items because A) there is more of a deal with them and B) those would never be on sale besides this time of year.

Let's see... getting the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Ultimate Collection, which was selling for $199 at Best Buy for $111.89 after DDD's regular price and the 20% discount is just one of the many reasons why this sale is great.

No offense, but if you don't understand why it's great, there's really only one reason - you don't know how to shop for your DVD's.

Or it could be that unlike B1G1F sales, EVERYTHING is available in the 20% off sale. But hey, if you can tell me where to find ANYTHING I want at B1G1F prices, then I'll admit that you're right.

The only people that don't know how to plan, IMHO, are the people that don't understand why this sale is so good. The rest of us are constantly comparing prices throughout the year, even when other sales are on, and we determine if it's a good deal now or should we wait for the inevitable 20% sale. We're pretty familiar with what items end up in the other sales that run throughout the year (it's pretty much the same stuff, especially when you get to the more expensive titles), and once again we know if it's a good idea to get them during the 20% sale or wait for one of the other sales to come around again. For example, I wouldn't think of trying to get seasons of Sanford & Son, The Jeffersons, Good Times, etc in the 20% sale because as an informed consumer I know that they regularly show up in better sales.

You can't hang out on DVDTalk.com and NOT become an informed consumer unless you make a decision to do your best to remain uninformed.

Other sales are usually for items that have been available for sometime.
This sale is for everything that has been released including the Tuesday
that comes during the sale. You are seeing prices that are cheap on new stuff. Will the prices go down and be better some day? Sure. DDD prices during this sale are the usually the best at the time you order. I am sure someone will find something cheaper elsewhere. In fact people here often mention that something they bought is cheaper then DDD with the 20% off. There is always excitement about new releases and this sale caters to that.
