Further Details
Warner Home Video has officially announced Superman Returns which stars Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth, and Kevin Spacey. The film will be available to own in single ($28.98) and double-disc ($34.99). The release date has yet to be confirmed I'm afraid, but we'll bring you that shortly. What we are able to confirm is that each disc will carry a 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. As far as we know, the single-disc will be featureless, whereas the two-disc edition will include deleted scenes, along with Requiem for Krypton: Making Superman Returns - a comprehensive 3-hour documentary that takes you behind the scenes onto the set of Superman Returns.

Hmmm... so either special packaging plus material from a Superman book (I assume that's what The Ultimate Guide is), or an exclusive cover with a bonus DVD and a lithograph....
Have to look into both offers to be sure, but leaning toward Best Buy right now, though it will cost a little more. The extra DVD at Circuit City might be good, but the Superman vs. Lex Luthor cover sounds kind of cheesy. The litho is the only thing that really tempts me.
The Best Buy artwork is clearly a nice touch. I can imagine a package design similar to that of the Collector's Edition of X-Men: The Last Stand. If so, would definitely be a plus. Competing exclusives, both of which are cool, get difficult.
One week to decide.

Oh man, has anyone read the back of the dvd case for this? I don't know if its the same on the 2 discer, but the single disc back cover has one of the worst synopses I've ever seen in my entire life. I can't believe they let that pass.

I would love it if someone could post detailed pictures of all the deluxe editions (best buy, circuit city, and target). At the moment I am leaning towards best buy though.

I also made note of the terrible plot synopsis but on another forum. It's just way too much happy talk. It feels too much like "BUY THIS DVD!" It's far too opinionated and sounds like a blurb from some critic's review of the movie. Compare the above to Batman Begins, which has a much more straight forward synopsis:
Here's a synopsis from the DVD's press release which reads a lot better:

He returns to Gotham and unveils his alter-ego: Batman, a masked crusader who uses his strength, intellect and an array of high tech deceptions to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city.

Superman's bittersweet return challenges him to bridge the distance between them while finding a place in a society that has learned to survive without him. In an attempt to protect the world he loves from cataclysmic destruction, Superman embarks on an epic journey of redemption that takes him from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of outer space.

Sounds like Warner has brought back the moron who wrote the blurb for the original Matrix DVD:
"Mind-warp stunts. Techno-slammin’ visuals. Mega-kick action. The movie flat-out rocks."
