^ Well thats good to know. The rebate slip says "Original UPC from the package" - have you gotten the rebate approved with just the pricetag UPC sticker before?

So if I order the 2 disc from fye.com, will it be the steelbook? I have no FYE near me. The website description does not indicate steelbook anywhere.

For all the FYE rebates the price sticker with the bar code has always been acceptable.

...That's not to say that I don't send the UPC along sometimes when it's something I don't care much about (recent Nintendo DS purchase there w/ $30 mail in rebate). But for DVDs I just use the price sticker. They also tell you this at checkout.

unless im mistaken, this is a twec store exclusive. sometimes fye et al has exclusives available online, but most of the time they do not. if its not listed on the website as an exclusive, then i think its available only in-store. sorry

The Burton + Depp + Carter = Todd featurette on Disc 1 is very entertaining and inciteful.

Even though I would have loved to have bought a HiDef version of the film on dvd, the image and sound are exemplory.

It was also available at Wherehouse Music, and I think there is chain of stores called Suncoast. I don't know for sure, but Sam Goody is listed on they fye rebate site as a potential store for fye rebates. Not sure where you are at, but one of these other stores may be near you and you didn't even know it. I'm not sure if all the stores carry the exclusive releases, but I saw it at Wherehouse Music this morning.

As much as I like the look of that Steelbook, I ordered the regular Special Edition from B&N for about $17.50 using a couple coupons codes. I'm one of those who promised to hold out for the Blu-ray release, but with no details in sight, I gave in -- this B&N price made it easier to swallow. (I also made a promise to myself to no longer double-dip, so I guess that makes me a liar because I will buy the BD down the line.)

If you have an FYE Membership, you could pick up the stelelbook for $20.69 +tax, and there is also a $5.00 rebate. Total comes to $15.69 before taxes, or $17.40 with Texas taxes (8.25%) figured in. Not a bad price for a steelbook that looks like it's going to be hard to find. The membership seems worth it if you frequent FYE or it's affiliates alot, but getting the membership for just a few new releases a year would not be. They also have some pretty good specials. I got a $5.00 come back coupon last month that was good for this month, and I was able to pick up another steelbook that is difficult to find (Boondock Saints) that I had my eye on last time I was there; got it for just a bit less than $20 before taxes. It's a sickness, I know, and apparently now I'm a bonafide member (I have the membership cards now to prove it!).

The specs of the Warner Japanese disc were released, and the extras are the same as the US Paramount, without a commentary.

I'm guessing that the UK Warner disc will not have commentary, most likely just a rumor now.

I picked up the 2 disc SE from Borders, was $24.99, it came with a nice booklet with a buch of concept art and pictures. I think it must be a very abridged version of the book that comes with the Costco bundle.

I hadn't seen this movie prior to buying it, and was weary about it because it looked awfully corny, not to mention the whole musical factor, but I genuinely enjoyed it. A lot of cool violence and visually it was great.

It doesn't appear to be numbered individually.

The front of the box states: "Limited Edition - 5000 Pieces"

Sweeney Todd 1979 musical

Has anyone picked up the new DVD of the 1979 Sweeney Todd musical? Is the 2008 release the same as the 2004 release, or are there any extras?

I never heard any news of this. What exactly did this featurette incite? Did it get particularly ugly? Enquiring minds what to know...

actually watching the recording sessions is part of it's charm. I also found it interesting how many scenes were shot with green background

I'd sure like to know to, if not for the commentary for the ever so slight uncensored blood spilling that was cut in the states to secure it's R-rating.
