Those will be the first thing stores start giving away free with the purchase of a system.

I've heard negative talk about FPS controls. Anyone know why don't they make them like a stand-up shooter (Time Crisis, Virtua Cop), just with added control-stick movement? I think aiming would be easier that way, as opposed to a 3d mouse. Stand-up shooter controls can't be twitchy.

I don't see why Nintendo would do that this late in the game. However, launching after the PS3 is a bit confusing when they seem to have plenty of consoles. I agree its probably a BS rumor. Nintendo may just be shipping them out early to have them ready for launch.

That's more than likely the case. DS Lites were sitting around in store backrooms for a couple weeks prior to launch (hence all the erroneous early sales when employees at Target etc. erroneously put them out thinking they were regular DSes.

I've always assumed that to be their strategy. It just seems foolhardy to me as the systems are so different in both power and game libraries. If someone wanting a PS3 gets frustrated, they are going to be much more likely to buy a 360 rather than a Wii as it offers more similar power and game types.

Hardware wise, Nintendo could have launch in mid-october if they wanted to. From what I've heard, Nintendo decided to push back the launch to provide an incentive for more publishers to finish up their title(s) for launch. (Typically launch games sell "better" then games released soon after launch)

Prior to Nintendo revealing the launch date everything I saw indicated an October launch.
