Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes Tabloid edition. They recently reprinted the rare C-55 treasury edition as a full-size hardcover.

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

Legends of the DC Universe: Crisis On Infinite Earths - The Untold Story #1

This was a one-shot written by Marv Wolfman himself in 1999, filling in some of the gaps for Barry Allen's experience...

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

It's a weird event where DC's superheroes were written as hard-boiled crime noir protagonists. I think the Question was in it. Themed annuals were pretty fun in the beginning before they ran out of...

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight Annual #7 - From the 1990s, this story written by James Robinson fits into that year's annuals' theme of "pulp" heroes.

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

I really should give that a second read.

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

We didn't get enough Jon at that age. I wouldn't have minded the forced change in age if we'd gotten several years of Jon as a pre-teen, but they establish him and then boom, he's now an older...

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

It's always a hoot seeing a future writer show up in the letters pages when they were young. It became so common I wondered if that was a condition of working in the business.

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

Chasing Hollywood royalties has become the golden goose for comic book writers at DC because DC has a strong system of payments if your creations show up in other mediums. I more or less believe it's...

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

I love most everything Geoff Johns has done at DC and I believe he's doing a sincere reimagining of the characters, but there is almost nothing I like about it. I am saying this as a huge long-time...

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

Maybe it's because I'm liking the art, but it's solid reading. Diana comes back dressed as some sort of agent.

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

I've been reading the short Who Is Wonder Woman? trade I picked up at Ollie's for cheap. This actually features Donna Troy more than Diana herself and I'm not sure if it even remains in continuity....

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

Some rumors indicate she may be the villain/frenemy in the Flash movie if it ever happens. The push behind her in the comics seems to confirm the idea.

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

It does feel more like Batman and the Outsiders than Justice League anything. I think the idea is to throw a bunch of random characters together and see what sticks. Occasionally it helps develop the...

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

Super Sons is a fun, light read if you want to see the team of Damian and Superboy together. The first couple of issues have been contrasting their personalities. I like it far more than I expected....

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

I think it came out around 2010 before the New 52, so after the Waid origin. DC got crazy with Superman origins in the 2000s. They seemingly put one out every other year. Most of them are now out of...

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

It's always cool discovering a signature in one of your back issues. It has happened to me a couple of times.

In keeping with this thread, I recently picked up a lot of random Superman and Green...

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

I've haven't heard much good about that hardcover but bought it as a show of support for DC continuing to hire Neal Adams. It's Neal drawing Superman, it can't be that bad.

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

I read Supreme #12 with a pretty cool cover by Stephen Platt. Dollar Tree stores have been getting in old back issues individually packaged in plastic wrap. Most of the inventory is worthless Image...

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

Even as a 10-year-old, I could never cut up, or write, on my comics. I lost the cover to one of my first X-Men issues and swore never again that any comic of mine would be in less than pristine...

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

I think I own this in a trade or collection somewhere but the cover is insidiously telling me to go hunt down the individual issue. I have a severe weakness for classic JLA covers.

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

I would say the production standards for comics have gotten much better since the '90s. Digital coloring and lettering makes modern comics look more professional than older comics. Art is always...

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

Poor Spidey has been trashed by Marvel since the '90s. It is probably better you don't know what they've done with Peter and Mary Jane since that point.

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you read?

The mandate was a dumb idea in the first place as a long-term solution and ended up savaging the Superman brand. Supergirl should be one of their most popular characters, she is one of the few...
