Re: Industry Rant

A store in Colorado Springs put this sign on their door. And from what was posted online, they don’t want you checking to see if the books are correctly graded and priced accordingly. Fuck stores...

Re: Industry Rant

Both Marvel and DC has silently, but consistently increased the pricing of books to $4.99-$7.99, some even higher. Even Archie books, which tend to be priced at $2.99 are now being priced at $3.99

Re: Industry Rant

The paper and raw material shortage is taking a hit on the comic book industry. The past several weeks have been what retailers call "short weeks", in which not many new titles are released. All of...

The book cancellation is more specific

I can understand why this is happening given the things we have seen over the past several years with people like Brian Wood, Joe Bennett and Jason...

Re: Industry Rant

Like stingermck mentioned, there's apps like Key Collectors, plus sites like comicbookinvest and ebay that let people know what's hot. There's also online channels on Youtube and Twitch with people...

Re: Industry Rant

I have 0 tolerance and patience for this type of shit. If you are too lazy to re-price your back issues to reflect the current market, then don’t take it on the customer by doing bait and switch...

Re: Industry Rant

I understand not preparing for Batman #77 or Walking Dead #193 as there was no way of knowing but there's no reason for an LCS to not adjust numbers for the Power of X or House of X or Absolute...

Re: Industry Rant

Two people from a FB group I'm in relayed some horror stories while shopping today at their LCS. The first one was in Florida and the guy(a regular) went to his LCS as soon as their doors open to...

Re: Industry Rant

Another big place that recently stopped selling floppies, eliminated their variants and downsized their tpb section is Books-A-Million. This happened at the end of 2018, taking another big customer...

Re: Industry Rant

I think one of the ways that the big two can bring new readers in is by actually having good toys at Target, Walmart and other retailers that are 1: affordable, 2: good looking, 3:includes digital...

Re: Industry Rant

I appreciate the kind words. My store was good at bringing newer readers, from kids to college students. We had a kid section with little tables and seats to read and enjoy the books and it was...

Re: Industry Rant

It does. Luckily, that store wasn't my main source of income as I have another full time job. Also, I actually lost more of my time than actual money in this endeavor but the situation taught me of...

This is the only time this type of scenario had happened. The issue here was the NYT spoiler the Sunday before release, like I mentioned before. Every retailer was extremely pissed because when we...

Re: Industry Rant

Yes it was. DC kept that policy up until 2015 for some New 52 stuff. For example, the main Convergence book was returnable, but in this case it changed issue by issue. Issue #0 and #1 were...

Re: Industry Rant

I don't think I was completely clear on the subject, so let me add some things. I don't know how long returnability on comic books with Diamond has been going on, but it has happened at least for...

Re: Industry Rant

It's weird to say this, but I'm the source cause I'm a former comic book store owner. I was part owner of a shop that lasted 5 years and closed in December of 2017. Funny thing is that we didn't...

Re: Industry Rant

That's not true. Up to like 5-6 years ago, most comics sold in comic book stores were returnable. That changed after the New 52, Marvel's Now Initiative and Image reducing print runs. Today, some...

Re: Industry Rant

I know and many of those stores closed for pulling that bullshit during the 80's and specially, the 90's. I remember a comic shop buying over a 1000 copies of X-Force #1, putting only 10 out and...

Re: Industry Rant

No. It mostly has to do with speculation about this issues acquiring value long term. The Hulk series has been hot as it's a great read and has been selling out almost everywhere. The Avengers...
