Re: Batman Comic Question

I just love posters like you who never bother to read other posters posts, but just barf out the same old thing repeatedly as if it's absolute truth.

Bane would not exist without the Venom story....

Re: Batman Comic Question

Couple thoughts.

I really liked LOTDK, because it was stuff that was outside current continuity. That didn't mean it was alternate earths or Elseworld's stories, it mean the stories didn't have to...

Re: Mark Waid on Publishing Economics

Aww wook, the pissed off fanboy blaming everyone but himself for the collapse of the comic book market.

How quaint.-rolleyes-

It is obvious that there is absolutely no demand or room for more...

Re: Recommend me good books with good movie adaptations

Eh, the whole scene of Ryan trying to get on the sub in the movie was such rubbish it nearly ruined the rest of the movie.

Plus the whole conceit that runs through all of Clancy's books that every...

Re: DC to publish Watchmen prequel?

Jay G. My opinion of Moore has changed for the worse for a number of reasons:

1) His absolute refusal to have any sort of warning or Adults Only label attached to Lost Girls and his bleating and...

Re: DC to publish Watchmen prequel?

Ok, I started reading the seraphemera interview with Moore and right off the bat Moore comes across like the most retarded naive person in the history of the fucking planet.

Christ, what a...

Re: Invincible Compendium: 2000+ pg of Invincible goodness

Since you don't specify precisely what 'those' words are, your question is obviously an uber fail lame-o attempt at hipster sarcasm and post ironic irony as well as unanswerable.

Come back when...

Re: DC to publish Watchmen prequel?

Wow.

You certainly seem to have a lot of 'facts'-rolleyes- that you claim are true, yet you also have precisely zero cites to back them up

So try again, this time with legitimate cites to back...

Re: Invincible Compendium: 2000+ pg of Invincible goodness

The hypocrisy and double standard are in the discussion because Kirkman has absolutely no problem writing and putting out a comic book with scenes of violence and blood and gore which would make...

Re: Recommend me good books with good movie adaptations

Forest Gump???!!!

No.

The book and movie had nothing in common besides the title, much like I, Robot.

if you're looking for a good book/movie combo 84 Charing Cross Road.

Re: DC to publish Watchmen prequel?

Couple counterpoints. I don't have a recent copy on hand but I believe the tpb has gone through at least 20 printings. And while you may not want to admit it, it has always been one of the best...

Re: My son wants to start collecting Comics.

Seeing as he is on the record in one of the later letter columns in Preacher as saying just that, I am perfectly sane. Ennis had started with the piss and shit and puke crap in the very first script...

Re: DC to publish Watchmen prequel?

JayG, You ask if the sales of the tpb of Watchmen have always been steady. That's kind of a two pronged question, the other one being how many copies were sold in an average month. Your statement...

Re: Invincible Compendium: 2000+ pg of Invincible goodness

So you don't think Kirkman is a hypocrite or has double standards? And nudity and such would certainly mean more sales.

Re: Invincible Compendium: 2000+ pg of Invincible goodness

Anyone else have a problem with the double standard Kirkman seems to have regarding depicting sex vs. depicting violence in Invincible.

First off, I do like the book a lot, especially since it...

Re: My son wants to start collecting Comics.

Please.

Have you even read Walking Dead? It's one of the grossest, most explicitly violent and quite frankly, rather vile mainstream books ever published, and I'm not a prude. It's not like...

MetaMaus, anyone have it, read it?

Got it from Amazon a couple of months ago. A very nice look inside one of the most acclaimed comics/graphic novels of all time. A look inside Spiegelman's creative process and tons of preliminary...

Re: DC to publish Watchmen prequel?

What does this even mean? are you saying that DC has been cheating Moore and Gibbons out of their proper share of royalties, in violation of the contract?

Moore has earned about $2,000,000 in...

Re: DC to publish Watchmen prequel?

Yeah, it was probably a proposal or outline rather than the actual script, but I do know it took Bolland two years to draw so Moore probably finished the script in early 1986.

How has DC acted...

Re: DC to publish Watchmen prequel?

Ok, couple of thoughts.

JayG has written that Moore wrote The Killing Joke and Bolland drew it in 1988.

Unequivocally wrong. Moore and Bolland are both on record disparaging the story and both...
