Re: Little Shop of Horrors deleted scenes

Me, too - don't know why they didn't include that on the Blu-ray!

Also, the scene with Steve Martin's head...

Little Shop of Horrors deleted scenes

Has this been discussed here yet? Someone uploaded three videos of deleted scenes, including the "Meek Shall Inherit" verse. Wish these had been included on the Blu-ray!

Re: TCM reporting A Star is Born - 6/22/10

IF WHV plans to do a high quality transfer, possibly in Ultra-resolution, they are entirely justified in not making it simply an extra. Frankly, the 1937 version is so good it deserves its own...

Re: TCM reporting A Star is Born - 6/22/10

Got the Blu-ray yesterday, and it looks great. I wanted to share one discovery:

They fixed the synch in the carhop scene (for which they had a 16mm alternate take that didn't match the audio...

Re: TCM reporting A Star is Born - 6/22/10

In comparing the version on TCM last night with the DVD, I found that all the film jumps after dissolves have been corrected! There are a lot of them, too. Is that standard practice for...

Re: Mistake in Leslie Caron's "Gigi" recollection?

I'll try again:

Are there any clips on the "Gigi" DVD of Leslie Caron doing her own singing?

I don't recall seeing any.

She was dubbed by Betty Wand in the released film.

Mistake in Leslie Caron's "Gigi" recollection?

I'm reading the chapter in her autobiography on "Gigi" and came across this:

"To this day, the childish cuteness of Ms. Wand and her artificial French accent hurt my ears. (Now, fifty years...

Re: TCM reporting A Star is Born - 6/22/10

"I don't frequent Garland forums..."

Isn't that why we come here? To learn from others?

And you're missing the point. The problem was not about time, it was about expense. An ultra-res...

Re: TCM reporting A Star is Born - 6/22/10

No, many of them are under 30, if you look at the posts on Garland message boards.

The ASIB release was originally announced for 2009, so 2011 would actually be a two-year delay. Fans were...

Re: TCM reporting A Star is Born - 6/22/10

Gimme a break.

First, Garland fans didn't want to wait another year.

Second, if they do an Ultra-resolution transfer (not cheap), they're entirely justified in doing a separate release.

Re: TCM reporting A Star is Born - 6/22/10

From the March 1 NY Post, where this was originally reported:

The long-awaited Blu-ray debut of "A Star is Born'' will arrive on June 22, Warner Home Video announced today. This is a 6K transfer...

Re: Petition for the complete "A Star Is Born"

The "guy" is film producer Micheal Arick, as I said in my first point. Look him up on IMDB.

If he actually has a print, I don't think he wants money for it - just recognition.

While there...

Re: Petition for the complete "A Star Is Born"

I don't believe Arick is holding onto it for its monetary value, which is questionable because any public sale would be illegal. The story is that he was planning to give it the Academy at one...

Re: TCM reporting A Star is Born - 6/22/10

Yes, and it's missing a half-hour of footage! Horrible.

The Haver print restores 25 minutes of full image and sound, and has 5 minutes of photo montages.

But the famed "mystery collector"...

Re: Metropolis (KINO)

It will be transferred at 24fps, so the "Keystone Cops" effect will be visible in full glory.

Ha ha - I will cut in the new footage, but I'm debating whether to wait until November or to use the broadcast version. What do you think?

Re: KINO Metropolis at proper speed!

Thanks so much! You know, the only negative comments I've received have been from people who never saw my version - those who think any such experiment is sacrilegious. But everyone who has seen it...

Re: KINO Metropolis at proper speed!

So now I have to decide whether to wait until the DVD comes out in December or to add that new footage to my camera-speed version now. There is a 720p copy out there, so that should be sufficient -...

Re: KINO Metropolis at proper speed!

Do you know this for a fact or are you surmising?

The case was about works in the PD that were taken out of PD, like Metropolis. The last ruling said this could not be done.

And you can't...

That's what I'm asking.

It seems to indicate that Metropolis is now in the public domain.

Re: KINO Metropolis at proper speed!

I was considering attending the premiere of the newly-restored Metropolis on Feb. 12 in Berlin, based on this email from Martin Koerber:

"Natural movement occurs at 20fps (except for the last...

Actually, I think they look pretty amazing:

Re: Wizard of Oz / Gone with the Wind coming to Blu-ray in the 4th quarter of 2009

Using a pin-registered Northlight film scanner, Warner Bros. employees were able to scan the three separate camera negatives at 8K, a much-higher resolution than was possible only a few years ago,...

Re: Huge News: Bringing Up Baby, other classics from WB on 3/1/05

Someone pointed out that I missed a puppet shot, so I uploaded a new clip.
