This is getting to be fun! How about the HEIGHT of the picture?
4:3 60 inch = 36 inch height. (36 x 48)
16:9 50 inch = 24.5 inch height. (24.5 x 44)
16:9 60 inch = 29.4 inch height (29.4 x 52.3)

If I remember the numbers right, there are 18 DIGITAL formats that stations can choose from. Only 6 of them are HDTV.
