I once read an article by a writer who went to a Patti Smith autograph event and thought that it would be amusing to put a picture of Patty Smyth in front of her to sign in hopes that they might both share a nice laugh about it. Apparently Smith did not see the humor in his action and simply replied, "That's not me" and pushed the picture aside.

Oh I thought it was a band called Land. I see Patty Smith now. I was trying to see a Millennium connection.
