I fucked around in some thrash metal bands when I was younger. Played bass guitar. Basically garage bands, played a few shows in little bars. Never learned to read or write music, just learned a few basic things, which was enough to get by.

Did you ever use a distortion pedal, to get a cronos/venom or angelripper/sodom type of "distorted bass" tone?
