The Killers -- Imploding the Mirage -- Spring 2020
The Killers will release a new album, Imploding the Mirage, in the spring of 2020. The band revealed the news on Twitter along with the announcement of a 2020 U.K. and Ireland tour in support of the release, noting “future musical teasing imminent.”
Imploding the Mirage will follow the Las Vegas group’s 2017 album Wonderful Wonderful. Earlier this year the band released “Land of the Free,” a song in response to President Trump’s proposed border wall, institutional racism and the country’s failure to introduce substantial gun control reform. It’s unclear if the track will be included on the new album, which has yet to get an official tracklist or specific release date, although the band teased a list of potential songs on Instagram in October.
“We’ve been in Utah doing it,” Flowers told NME earlier this year of the new album. “That’s where I fell in love with music for the first time; so it’s interesting to be there again and hear some of that music with the geography matching the sensation. Some of that stuff is starting to resurface and a lot of that had to do with synthesizer music. It’s always been part of our DNA but it’s definitely creeping up.”
The spring tour will take place next May and June, with stops in London, Manchester and Dublin. Blossoms, Sam Fender and Manic Street Preachers will open various dates on the tour. Fans who preorder the album by November 19th at 4 p.m. will have early access to pre-sale tickets to the tour.

I really liked Hot Fuss and Sam's Town but haven't been a huge fan of anything since. I hope this is a return to more of that sound.

I'm going to some festival down in Fort Lauderdale this weekend where they are playing. I wonder if they will play a new song.

So that's Flowers' third casino-themed album title and fourth Nevada-themed album title. He represents NV well despite having moved to UT.

Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham appears on the new Killers’ song, “Caution.” The track is the lead single from the band’s upcoming album, Imploding the Mirage, out May 29th on Island Records.
“Let me introduce you to the featherweight queen,” frontman Brandon Flowers belts. “She got Hollywood eyes, but she can’t shoot what she see.” Buckingham rips through a sizzling guitar solo before the track comes to a close.
Imploding the Mirage follows 2017’s Wonderful Wonderful. In addition to Buckingham — who will embark on a solo tour next month — the album also features Weyes Blood, K.D. Lang, War on Drugs’ Adam Granducil, Blake Mills and Lucius. It was produced by Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado and Shawn Everett.
The album marks the first LP the band has made since leaving their hometown of Las Vegas. Flowers cited Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Bruce Springsteen and New Order as influences on the record.
The Killers also announced an extensive world tour to promote the album. Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr will support them on the U.S. leg.
All tickets for the North American shows go on sale Friday, March 20th at 10 a.m. local time. Tickets for the U.S. shows will accompany a copy of Imploding the Mirage on CD.

I saw them in an arena in like 2004. San Diego State’s arena. What’s that hold?
Just looked it up. 12,000 seats. Plus floor space.

Dates for the upcoming shows have not been delayed (at least not yet), but the ticket sales, which were to start today, have been delayed for now.

Re: The Killers -- Imploding the Mirage -- Spring 2020
I didn't understand that video at all. I did like that it she had a Las Vegas phone number, but that video was shot in L.A. Also weird that it only featured Brandon and drummer Ronnie Vannuchi. I know that guitarist Dave Kuenning and Bassist Mark Stoermer were on touring haitus, but thought they could still show up for a video shoot.
Edit : Looks like Dave left the band in 2017. That's a bummer. I really like him.
Picture I took of him at the Vegas Strong Benefit concert I attended in December 2017.
