Tom Petty in critical condition after cardiac arrest [UPDATE: Dead at 66] [Merged]

Breaking now.

Info:

Tom Petty was found unconscious on Monday and rushed to a hospital.

TMZ reports that law enforcement officials said he was found unconscious, not breathing and in full cardiac arrest.

Petty, known for being a part of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in 1978 with "Breakdown," is 66.

More Info:

Tom Petty was taken to the hospital last night after he was found unconscious in his Malibu home, according to TMZ. He wasn’t breathing and was in full cardiac arrest, though emergency responders were able to find a pulse. He is now reportedly on life support at the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital, though his current condition is unknown.

Found unconscious + cardiac arrest + life support?

He's most likely already gone When I worked E/R and a patient was brought in in full cardiac arrest, we prepped the morgue.

Re: Tom Petty in critical condition after cardiac arrest

That sucks.

A sidenote: Watched The Postman a few nights ago where Tom played the "Bridge City Mayor", otherwise nameless...

Postman: I know you. You're... famous.

Bridge City Mayor: I was once... sorta.

Can't get the Tom Petty/Stevie Nicks tune out of my head, I won't name it because it would be kind of tasteless right now, my mind operates strangely.

Definitely gonna miss Tom...

So sad. So many great songs and such a great musical legacy. Heaven's band is certainly getting more and more stacked way too quickly these days...
