Agreed! There's some really great stuff on this album.

This one is like the last few U2 albums for me. There is some stuff I really like, and some stuff I do not care for. American Soul may be the worst song they have ever put to tape. If they removed Lights Of Home, You're The Best Thing About Me, and American Soul and added Ordinary Love and Book Of Your Heart to the proper album, it would be an awesome album. I actually much prefer the remix of Lights Of Home and wish it was the version on the album. Overall I like it and it is much better than Songs Of Innocence.

Weird, this (both editions of the CD) was completely sold out at both my local Best Buy and Target by noon today.

Just finished listening to this for a second time through tonight and this is easily my favorite album since ATYCLB. So many great tracks on this album...

1. "Love Is All We Have Left"
3. "You're the Best Thing About Me"
4. "Get Out of Your Own Way"
5. "American Soul"
9. "The Little Things That Give You Away"(Top 5 all-time for me)
10. "Landlady"
11. "The Blackout"
12. "Love Is Bigger Than Anything in Its Way"

Re: U2 Songs of Experience

I used to be a massive fan of U2, but with the exception of a fee good songs on a couple of their albums (Beautiful Day especially and the album ATYCLB), they have not done a great album in 20 years. I actually really liked Pop and anyone thay says Zooropa is a bad album is way off base. I always hoped they would do a return to Zoo TV album as that period was their most inspired. The problem with the last handful of albums is they feel all cut from the same cloth and no move forward in adapting. After the failure of Rattle and Hum (which i also find a strong album) they evaluated and csme back strong with Achtung Baby. They havnt changed it up in a long time and it shows.

I listened to the new album last week and it sounded like cut songs from any of their recent releases.. Unimpressed. Not seen them in 20 years live, so more interested in that.

I am not a huge fan of American Soul but we are wrong.

The only U2 song in constant rotation on MTV Live

I guess that song hit with the public and the masses.

Chris, do you know anything about how the show will be from behind the stage? I guess I should be happy I got seats under $350 each, but I don't really want to just see their backs 95% of the time. I guess if it's like that Chicago clip above, it shouldn't be too bad...

The problem with behind the stage, is you miss the massive screen that runs the length of the arena. Side views are the premium seat.

yeah the screen is really impressive and if you can get side seats they are the best for this show.

Show was tonight. I was behind the stage, but way over on the side so I had really good views of that screen. View from my seat :

Thought the show was okay, but the worst of the five tours I have seen over the years. Way too much Innocence and Experience stuff. Zero Joshua Tree, which really shocked me. Sound was pretty muddy as well. I couldn't understand half of what Bono was saying when he was talking.
Still some of the show was great and while there were a lot of back views, they were awful close.

Probably because they just did an entire tour devoted to The Joshua Tree. I looked at the setlist for the show you went. Yikes... that sucks. That's why I only went to the last tour. All their "new"-ish stuff sucks, IMO.

Iris one of their newer songs is good.

Sirius/XM channel 30 plays U2 non-stop until June 30 and they have a live concert on XM today at 2pm PDT or 5pm EDT.

The U2 Experience showcases music from the band’s more than four-decade-long career, including tracks from their latest album Songs of Experience (Interscope) – ranked #6 in the Global Top albums of 2017, epic rock anthems, historic performances, and rarities. SiriusXM subscribers will also hear exclusive stories from Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, Larry Mullen, and U2’s long-time sound engineer Joe O’Herlihy, who has helped shape the remarkable sound of U2 throughout the decades since he first saw them perform in September 1978 at the Arcadia Ballroom in Cork City, Ireland.

On Monday, June 11, U2 will take a one night detour from the eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour 2018 to perform at Harlem’s legendary Apollo Theater for the first time ever for a special invitation-only concert for SiriusXM subscribers. This exclusive SiriusXM concert, and U2’s most intimate New York City show in nearly 20 years, will air on SiriusXM’s The U2 Experience, channel 30, on Wednesday, June 13 at 5 pm ET.

The concert will also air simultaneously on Howard Stern’s Howard 101 channel. Subscribers will be able to listen to SiriusXM hosts Bill Flanagan and Jenny Eliscu host the pre-show concert coverage from the historic Harlem landmark.

The U2 Experience runs through Saturday, June 30, via satellite on channel 30, and through the SiriusXM app on smartphones and other connected devices, as well as online at siriusxm.com

How strange is that U2 is so famous and I don't like listening their songs :/

cdollaz 06-11-18 10:55 PM

Re: U2 Songs of Experience

Yes, that is strange. What is wrong with you?

Re: U2 Songs of Experience

They should do a tour where they perform only songs from the Boy and War albums.

cdollaz 02-11-19 09:52 AM

Re: U2 Songs of Experience

Boy is my favorite U2 album, so that would work for me. To round out the time, they could play the early b-sides and songs that did not make the early albums. Touch, 11 O'Clock Tick Tock, etc.

Re: U2 Songs of Experience

You guys are basically asking them to become a legacy/nostalgia act.

I want them to do a tour where they only play Indian Casinos!

It’s kind of pathetic. I don’t like their new stuff either.

JeffTheAlpaca 02-11-19 06:04 PM

Re: U2 Songs of Experience

I like their new stuff but Metallica did a tour with Masters of Puppets in the mid 2000's and maybe they could do a smaller tour for the diehards with their older material only.
