Singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer, author, music professor, and general all-around great guy Moe Berg and his band The Pursuit Of Happiness, known for their infectious beats and deliciously sweet backup vocals. Their debut album Love Junk could very well be a greatest hits compilation on its own. I'm An Adult Now gets the lion's share of airplay but they have so many other great songs in their repertoire, Hard To Laugh being one of my (many) favorites ...

Re: Post a song you like or love.
Spectacle: Elvis Costello with... was a music performance/talk show that ran for 2 seasons between 2008-10 and featured an incredible array of guests who would sit down and discuss their music & influences with Costello and then perform a number of songs, often with Costello and his band The Imposters accompanying them. Brilliantly conceived and executed, it has some historical significance as well - as a number of the guests who appeared & performed on it are no longer with us (Lou Reed, Levon Helm, Jesse Winchester, Allen Toussaint, John Prine). Both seasons of Spectacle receive regular rotation in my home theatre room on blu-ray. Costello devoted 2 of these shows to Bruce Springsteen exclusively. Here is the Boss with a couple of the members of the E Street Band performing Seeds with Costello and The Imposters ...

Re: Post a song you like or love.
Elvis Costello had The Police on Spectacle the day before the final concert of their reunion tour in 2008. He interviewed each member of the band individually, then collectively, before performing on stage with them at the Apollo Theater in New York. The group interview (well worth a watch) begins at 33:43. The songs begin at 41:05 ...

Spectacle was my introduction to the captivating Neko Case. Completely smitten, I made sure to catch her when she performed at one of our local venues a few years later. Here she is singing Prison Girls, with Elvis Costello on guitar and Steve Nieve on piano ...

Just a beautiful song by the incomparable southern gentleman Jesse Winchester. The looks on the faces of the people in the audience, and the reaction from Neko Case near the end, really says everything here ...

I love power pop, and though my knowledge base is very small, seems to be a lot of great, brainy power pop from Canada. Oh, Canada!

One more song to end the Spectacle performances. Costello invited Levon Helm to be a guest and decided to build a 'Band' around him, which consisted of himself, Richard Thompson, Nick Lowe, Allen Toussaint, Ray LaMontagne, Larry Campbell, and The Imposters. Helm was undergoing radiation treatment for his throat cancer at the time, and could barely speak, but wasn't going to miss the show. Here is the 'Band' performing The Weight ...
As a side note, the clips that I've shown here really only scratch the surface in terms of quality and content. I would encourage any fan of music to seek these episodes out either on a streaming platform, if available, or on blu-ray. They are well worth it.

This Dome/Mute records song from 1986 has been kicking my ass up and down the block since yesterday. Towards the midway point you can definitely hear an '80s Wire influence on a minimalist guitar part, but this is otherwise trancy dream pop with ethereal vocals and rhythm guitar possibly played on bass. Soooo gooooood.
