You have the urge to build a campfire in the desert and run wild with a stick in your hand after listening to this song

These guys just blew me away in 2004 when they opened for KISS. An unknown band with an independently released album opening the show - they were going to go over like a lead balloon, right? Wrong - they won the crowd over. Big time. They were that great!

Funky grooves, catchy, meaty riffs, hooky/melodic vocals and vocal melodies - they really had it all.

I'm rather partial to Dave Brubeck's appropriation of the name.

Here's a newly released song from Lucy Dacus, who is one-third of Boy Genius with the better-known Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker. This is a song that she has performed live since 2018 but has requested that fans not record. It was a song with a bit of a legendary cult following until a studio version was released today.
I am not sure I can say that I love it, but as far as storytelling song narrative goes, I am super-impressed. Man this one gets dark.

^ Mmm, Miss Elizabeth. I remember her. A gentle, luscious woman.

"Mano a Mano" by Hall & Oates". To those who know much more about music than I do, are Hall & Oates considered "wuss rock"? I don't care, I like what I like, but I'm curious.

Hmmm not wuss rock - never really heard that 'genre' - they are folk-pop duo that evolved through a 70's blue-eyed soul phase (good also) into the monster 80's pop-rock heights that they are best known for.

It's not an official genre, but those who disdain the softer regions of the rock spectrum use it to describe what they don't like. Someone like Michael Bolton is probably at or near the top of the list.

Ahhh the "power ballads'"!! Yes Bolton would fall into that category.

Speaking of Michael Bolton, this was pretty good:
