Been listening to Rush - Live In YYZ 1981 from the Moving Pictures 40th Anniversary vinyl box set. They ended the concert with this instrumental masterpiece ...

A nice little slice of 80s Canadiana from Chalk Circle with April Fool. Still have the vinyl 45 single in my collection ...

Re: Post a song you like or love.
Posting an encore of Chris Tait and the boys in Chalk Circle. Great band that should've hit much bigger. This Mourning brings back a lot of great memories (and yes, I still have my vinyl 45 of this one, too ...)

Re: Post a song you like or love.
A great little hidden gem from Canadian band Walter Zwol & The Rage back in '81. It received some local airplay then quickly faded away into obscurity. I liked it so much at the time that I bought the vinyl 45 and nearly wore it out. No one I know even remembered this song but it stayed with me all these years. A couple of years ago I found the full album in one of our local record stores and brought it home. It was finally uploaded to YouTube sometime last year so I'm going to share it here.

So many great songs on Warren Zevon's Excitable Boy album but this one has been rattling around inside my head for a few days now. Oh, and I completely agree with The Infidel in the 'Radio Sucks Now' thread that there should be a station that only plays deep cuts.

"When Will I Be Loved"
The original by the Everly Brothers The cover by Linda Ronstadt Both versions are great, but I think I prefer the rockabilly sound of the original. |
Re: Post a song you like or love.
Always loved this song, but with MTV being what it was, I never saw the video until a year ago. Kathleen Hannah

This remix is interesting, I have a feeling I'm going to read one day that Bjork broke her hip navigating one of her outfits.

Let Go The Line Max Webster Let Go The Line Going with that easy 70's vibe. Here is one right at the end of the 70's going into the 80's. Jesus, the dude looks like he is 14! He is around 25 years old here and wrote it three years earlier after his beloved car broke down and his girlfriend broke up with him. It hit #4 on the Top 40 and was a #1 on the Adult Contemporary charts. Pretty good tradeoff for the heartbreak. |
Re: Post a song you like or love.
Canadian musician, and younger brother of SCTV alum Dave Thomas, Ian Thomas had a prolific career up here in the Great White North. He and his band were featured as the guest musicians on an episode of SCTV back in '81 performing Hold On (later covered by Santana) and Pilot, which is my favorite of his.
Ian also got to join his brother and Rick Moranis for one of the sketches: Spoiler:
