Same here. And they'll be doing a showcase next month here at SXSW, so I'm hoping I can get in for that. It'd be great to hear their new stuff before it's released.

Pretty excited for this.
For those who read her long letter and were wondering, I looked it up and the band member who was on the panel with Metric was Mike Mills of REM.

And the list of albums I'm excitedly looking forward to get's that much longer.
It's turning out to be a pretty good year for music releases for me. Many of my favorite bands putting out new albums this year, and so far, they've all been great.

Can't believe I missed this thread back when it was originally started. Didn't realize that this album had been announced so long ago...my bad starting that duplicate thread...anyway I just got my tickets to the May 27 show in Bend, OR with Beck. I can't wait, am expecting to hear a lot the new album at the show.

I'd like to see them especially after I missed them opening for Muse a while ago, but Radio City is too big of a venue. Hopefully I'll get a nice cheap ticket day of show.

Full album has been leaked and is out there if you want to check it out. I am really enjoying it so far, save for the song with Lou Reed which kind of sucks imo.

I didn't like the last song either which is a shame cause I like all the other songs just fine. Thanks for pointing out that it was Reed, I was wondering who it was but was too lazy to look it up.

Figured I'd post this here as well...

Howard Shore & Metric - Cosmopolis: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (07/10/2012)
01. Howard Shore - White Limos
02. Metric - Long To Live
03. Howard Shore - Rat Men
04. Howard Shore - Asymmetrical
05. Metric - I Don't Want To Wake Up
06. Howard Shore - A Credible Threat
07. Metric - Call Me Home
08. Howard Shore - Haircut
09. K'Naan - Mecca
10. Howard Shore - The Gun
11. Howard Shore - Benno
Apparently the tracks listed as by Howard Shore are composed by him and performed by Metric.

Re: Metric - Synthetica (06/12/12)
Not a single post once the album actually came out?
Well, I can't blame you. At least based on a single listen, "Synthetica" is by far my least favorite Metric album (even beneath "Grow Up and Blow Away", something I never would've expected). It's not that it's a bad album...it's just that nothing about it makes any impression whatsoever. It's like drinking a room temperature glass of a water on a lightly cloudy, 73° day. It's remarkably well-produced background noise, devoid of a single standout track. With as much as I love pretty much everything else with Metric's name stamped on it, I was hoping for more than "okay, I guess".
I do like that stretch of "Lost Kitten", "The Void", and "Synthetica", but none of them are...y'know, songs where I'd pop open iTunes or whatever just to listen to them.
Maybe I'll warm up to "Synthetica" as an album the more I listen to it, but I'm not really feeling compelled to give it another spin anytime soon. Seeing them live in September anyway.

Re: Metric - Synthetica (06/12/12)
I've only had a chance to spin it once, so far, but I liked most of what I heard.
There's only one small complaint I have, and it's so minor I don't even know why I'm going to bring it up, but here it is. Not that I have anything against profanity, but I wish some artists didn't feel the need to have to use it. Before I even put it on, I was wondering if Emily Haines would be dropping any F-bombs, and BAM! - first line out of the gate and there you have one. Does it really serve the material, or are is it just going for shock value? If it's the former, I'm less bothered by it. However, when it feels more like the latter, that's where it rubs me the wrong way. Anyway, that's it. Aside from that, I've just got to spend little more time with the album.
Hope to see them again if they come around here on tour.

^ yeah, me too. I can understand Rocketdog2000's complaint, but my reaction was far more positive. For me, it was one of those, "okay, I guess I don't know what to expect from this album. Awesome."
Artificial Nocturne is going to be a big hit at their live shows, that's for sure.

Re: Metric - Synthetica (06/12/12)
^ Oh, don't get me wrong, the song is great, otherwise. And I agree, in a live setting, I think it'll be really good, and wouldn't bother me as much. Why that way and not on the album, I don't know so much. I guess it would just be nice to play the album in front of anybody with out possibly offending them, or fear of having small children hear it.
