Maybe I am missing something, but there doesn't seem to be a confirmation that she did this. The article just said there were rumors:

There was never confirmation about this... it's a very old rumor.
I just remember Nicks referencing the rumor years back and was pretty much offended by the suggestion that she would do something like this.
