I don't actually know exactly, but yeah, the slowed down version of Mary on a Cross is is what started getting them more mainstream attention, for better or for worse.

Re: The 'Ghost B.C.' Thread
I have to admit, for a Swedish band with a hokey, masked, pseudo-Satanic image and lyrics, and a musical mashup of Blue Oyster Cult, Mercyful Fate and Abba (in the beginning), their subsequent large success in the US has been surprising and impressive. I never saw that coming! I remember the controversy during the recording, and later cover art, of their second album, and in interviews at the time, Papa/Tobias indicated that he wasn't expecting the band to ever get that big in the US due to their Satanic angle, considering how religious the US is compared to their home country (and continent).

"Rite here, rite now" concert film tickets are available now at AMC. So on 6/20 my theater is showing it at 7pm in Laser and on 6/22 at 3pm, also in Laser. That's it. It's literally 2 showings on two different days. It's also 2hr 25mins.
I'll just wait until the BD is released.

Cool, hoping for something a little heavier than last time. They always have nice album covers.

For those hoping that Ghost will return to the Infestissumam days should give up that hope. They are mainstream, rich, and famous now. That was the whole point of starting out the way they did. Build some credibility with the metal community before bringing in the regular people into the fanbase.
Tobias Forge had always said it was his hail mary after struggling with so many bands to make it in the industry. He finally made it and there's no way he's going back to being a "cult" band.
I love the band and like that they're popular now (it's a great troll) but I'm not aching for them to go back to Opus Eponymous. If they can incorporate some melodies and lyrics into their popular sound - I'm all for it.

Yeah, they aren't going to go backwards at this point.
Speaking of Ghost, when I was in Japan during the holidays I picked up a copy of their debut CD at Tower Records, because the Japanese version included a bonus track, a cover of "Here Comes the Sun". Cool cover and I'm glad to finally have it on CD.
I really wish the band wasn't signed with Loma Vista because their vinyl pressings tend to be ass. The records I have from them are usually kind of noisy, anyone know if the European pressings are of better quality?

I dig the new song. They have hit their groove with the catchy pop metal thingy.
Anyone else out there doing similar music right now that I may have not heard of? I am not a speed or death metal fan and really don't consider Ghost to be heavy metal. Hell, they are barely hard rock at this point. They don't fit the alternative/indie mold so I have no idea what "genre" I would consider them. But I always like what I hear and would love to hear more like it if anyone has any groups they want to throw out there that are similar in nature.
I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks regarding catchy stuff. If I am humming, whistling or singing along to a song after the first or second listen, it is a success in my eyes. Genre be damned!

If Tobias hadn't gone forward with Ghost, his previous band "Subvision" would have been awesome to have carried on. Great indie rock n roll band he had there:

Yeah, I first listened to the Subvision album (So Far So Noir) after people started making the connection between him and Ghost. It's a great little album, I'd recommend a listen!
The other band he fronted, death metal band Repugnant, would probably more of an acquired taste to many in this thread.
He played guitar (but not vocals) in several other rock bands as well.

I'll pick up the Target exclusive with neon purple vinyl and a custom mat. Might try to get the mineral variant, too, even though I'm trying to ween myself off buying a new Malibu Stacy every time they put a new hat on her.

Was tempted to import that but I bet the final price will be too expensive. I'll just wait until it's released in Atmos on Apple Music.

New video dropped. I watched it last night.
This is a nice mix of 80's hair metal and 80's early regular metal to me. Not the greatest song but once again I find myself humming it after the first listen.

Cool video and cool song. I like it better than the first single that dropped a few weeks ago.

Listened to the full album today. Nothing groundbreaking but I like it but I also liked their melodic AOR/hard rock direction. Standout track for me: Cenotaph

It's up on Apple Music in Dolby Atmos.
What I also noticed is that Amazon must have lowered the price on the vinyl at some point during the pre-order window, because I was charged $12 plus sales tax for it. It's $25 now.
