Charli XCX

Anyone check out this album by Charli XCX - True Romance?

I'm a Marina and the Diamonds fan and came across a song called "Just Desserts" by Marina featuring Charli XCX. It sounded like a Marina solo so I just assumed that Charli was the producer or something but it turns out it was a duet. Looked up more songs by Charli XCX and found the one below. Really liked it. I checked out her mixtape but didn't like it as much but I will be getting her album in a minute. Any thoughts or opinions on her music?

Love this one. I've had it for a couple of months and it is one of my favorites this year.

I think she's great. The album is fun. It's in my workout rotation.

Re: Charli XCX

There's a mashup of that Icona Pop song that's pretty good. The original I don't like so much.

Re: Charli XCX

Really enjoyed her first album. I have not listened to the new one yet, but it doesn't seem like it would be as appealing to me. Her getting mainstream via "Fancy" seems to have resulted in her being much more bubblegum poppy and less alternative pop. Will check it out at some point

Just look at the difference in album covers:

If you are a Windows 8.1 and/or Windows Phone user, "Sucker" is on sale for $0.99 in the Music Deals app for the rest of the week.

Re: Charli XCX

Thanks... picked it up for that price. Most of these songs are awful.

Re: Charli XCX

wow, you weren't kidding. Comparing the two, you'd think that Sucker was her first album, and True Romance was the more mature progression.

Her and Marina and the Diamonds are the only female singers I'm really keeping an eye out for so hopefully Marina's new album is good.

You should check out Sky Ferriera's "Night Time, My Time" album. I think that is very in the vein of Charli XCX's first album.

Also, I think Ellie Goulding might be the best female "pop" artist right now.

Thanks for the recommendation on Sky Ferriera. I didn't like the first song I heard "I Blame Myself" but I like "Heavy Metal Heart."

I've heard of Ellie Goulding but only song I know is "Burn" which I like. If you don't know her, Lykke Li is a pretty good singer too.
