I'm pretty stoked for this album as Pearl Jam is one of my top favorite bands of all time. I was really hoping to see them on tour sometime soon but sadly doesn't look like that'll happen unless they announce more dates later. This will do though for now. Personally I liked Backspacer quite a bit but am ready for some new material.

I'm NOT a fan of Pearl Jam. Even though I think Vitalogy is a pretty good album, they were damaged in my mind for a very long time because of my hate of Ten. This new song is very good, though. Wish their older material had been more like this.

Pearl Jam Shares 'Lightning Bolt' Track List
Pearl Jam spent the week teasing fans with a two-title-a-day tweeted track list reveal for its upcoming album "Lightning Bolt," which culminated yesterday (August 30) with the band sharing the full 12-song list and running order.
The new Pearl Jam album, which is due October 15 in the U.S., will include already released single "Mind Your Manners," as well as the two tunes the group debuted live at Chicago's Wrigley Field last month: the rocking title track, and a ballad called "Future Days." The album also contains a version of "Sleeping By Myself," a song which first appeared on singer Eddie Vedder's 2011 solo album "Ukulele Songs."
"Lightning Bolt" producer Brendan O'Brien, who also plays keys on "Future Days," tells Billboard that "Mind Your Manners" is the "tip of the iceberg" of what listeners can expect. He calls out the song "Sirens" as a highlight, and describes it by saying, "I wouldn't call it a ballad but there's a depth to it."
"Lightning Bolt" is Pearl Jam's 10th studio album and it's and the band's first studio effort since 2009's "Backspacer." "I think it's a great representation of their work right now," O'Brien says of the new album. "If you like Pearl Jam, you'll love this. And if you haven't listened to Pearl Jam in awhile, I think it's going to bring you in. That's the whole idea."
Fans will have to keep waiting for a studio version of "Of The Earth," however. The song, which the band has only played live, is not on "Lightning Bolt." "Whether that'll show up at some point, I'm not sure," O'Brien says.
Here Is Pearl Jam's "Lightning Bolt" Track List:
1. "Getaway"
2. "Mind Your Manners"
3. "My Father's Son"
4. "Sirens"
5. "Lightning Bolt"
6. "Infallible"
7. "Pendulum"
8. "Swallowed Whole"
9. "Let The Records Play"
10. "Sleeping By Myself"
11. "Yellow Moon"
12. "Future Days"

5 tracks in and I'm liking it way more than I thought I was going to (and this is after wanting to HATE 'Sirens' and then finding myself humming it the whole day after listening to it).
I'm not sure it sounds like PJ, but it still seems to be a damn fine album.

Up to track six as I'm writing this. Really solid album so far if you ask me. Standout tracks to me so far are the single, Mind Your Manners and Sirens. Stoked to get a physical copy of this album next week!!

I've gotten every PJ album since VS. on release day. As-of-yet, I have no plans for when this will find its way into my collection. I'm sure I'll pick up the vinyl at some point, but I don't really care right now.
On another note - got my Constitution Hall vinyl in the mail from 10C the other day. Awesome presentation - awesome sound - awesome show. (Just wish it was the complete show...)

Maybe a big part of the reason is that for the past couple albums, more and more of the songs seem better-fitter for Ed's solo work. Hell, he even revists a solo track, full-band style, on this one. I like Ed solo - have seen him 4-5 times on his solo tours - but I also appreciate the difference between solo vs. full band.

OK, OK...the new stuff is growing on me a bit. Especially after checking out the audio from the first two shows of the tour - these guys are still nailing it.

Re: Pearl Jam - Lightning Bolt (New Album) - 10/15/2013
Seeing them tomorrow and Wednesday. Can't wait.
LB is growing on me. I like it, and definitely like the first half better.
Infallible is easily my favorite on the album.
Sirens may be THE worst PJ song.

I'm loving the first half of LB but might need some time on the second half.
My favorite track is a tossup between Getaway and Sirens, and I really like Mind Your Manners and Lightning Bolt as well. My guilty pleasure song on this one is going to be Let The Records Play...fun song.
I'm sure on of the other ballads will grow on me, but only Sirens so far...really solid song.

I haven't been able to finish the album. I think I've listened to it two or three times and I had to stop for different reasons before the last 3-4 songs.
I'm really liking the first 3/4 though. Sirens is great, growing on me. MYM loved it since the first time. There are a couple more songs that I want to hear in concert too.

I haven't truly liked a Pearl Jam album since the 90s, I think. I loved about 4 songs from the last one and mixed them into my rotation.
But this record I like start to finish. It's no longer boring Pearl Jam, and I think there's more melody overall and they're not trying to be too punk rock or whatever you want to call it.
Big thumbs up from me, as far as being a real good overall album.

Listening to it this morning. I'm up to track 7 currently. I've enjoyed it quite a bit thus far. Def will be giving this a few more spins to fully appreciate it.

This one isn't doing a whole lot for me, although it isn't awful by any means. Just unmemorable for the most part. It's not even remotely on the same level as Backspacer. For me it is down there near the bottom with Riot Act and Vitalogy.
