I'll have to figure out how Spotify works first. You kids and your technology. ;)

Anyone ordering the new Flaming Lips album on vinyl? I'm assuming the one on Amazon is the same as the one on Flaming Lips website. But Amazon's descriptions and reviews of vinyl are maddeningly incomplete.

I haven't looked it up but what I've heard is that the US LP that you can order from the Lips website is on silver vinyl and it probably has the CD included.

The UK release of the album comes with the CD and a 7". I'm a little bummed about the US not getting the 7" but silver vinyl is pretty awesome.

And for those Drive fans out there, apparently there is a version (same one as pictured above?) that's coming out on Record Store Day.

I don't know if you guys listen to Stern that much, but he has been goofing on Gary a lot about vinyl lately, and it is hilarious, though I do think he is out of touch about the terminology.

Did you catch my post earlier in this thread? http://forum.dvdtalk.com/11637100-post46.html

^ That was pretty funny and Gary did deserve to get goofed on. "Pieces of vinyl" sounds lame, but then again, just the way Gary says it annoys me. FA FA FOOEY!

That Ronnie Bloc Party stuff was funny, too.

haha yeah that's what sparked me posting the vid. I thought you were actually asking, wasn't sure if that was a reference though.

Got two copies of the blood splattered Django Unchained vinyl in today. Already had a black uk copy. Not sure if I am keeping or trading. It's a weird soundtrack. Kinda works on cd and mp3 because its all needle drops from QTs personal collection supposedly. Feels weird to me recorded that way to another record.

Gah, you're right, If You're Feeling Sinister is cheaper at Matador, but only by $4. I'm not even seeing Dear Catastrophe Waitress on the Matador site, but it's over $30 on Amazon right now. OOP?

I got it on http://www.elusivedisc.com. It's on sale for $23.99. Double album and probably out of print.

Man, I'm currently spinning the new David Bowie and it's pretty damn cool. It goes by in no time, the way the songs are broken up on 4 sides.

Yeah, it moves fast for an album with 17 tracks.

Waterloo in Austin has 20% off for the next few days. Picked up Bryan Ferry's The Jazz Age.

The Third Man Records Rolling Record Store stopped at one of our stores today. It's pretty cool. It's like a taco truck but they have vinyl.

I finally picked up Verve's Urban Hymns on vinyl - the semi-recent repressing, not the original. I've had Storm in Heaven and Northern Soul for quite a while, so it was about time.

I also grabbed R.E.M.'s Accelerate. The CD is mastered pretty horribly, so I assume two 45rpm LPs will be a vast improvement.

That mobile record store is pretty crazy and awesome.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Quick question for the vinyl enthusiasts on here - do you guys ever buy more than one copy with the assumption that it'll be a rarity some day? Like, do you guys buy one to listen to and put the other one way for future selling/trading? I'm curious. I ran into a couple of so-so rare items and was almost going to pick them up just to put away. I already have a copy to listen to of each, but was gonna get a 2nd copy of each just to have in case their value skyrocketed.

Doubtful. It will probably sound exactly the same.

Record show this weekend. Picked up some stuff, all beautiful clean copies all for about 40 bucks:

David Bowie - StationToStation
Roxy Music - Stranded
Nillson Greatest Hits
Genesis - Foxtrot
The Who - Quadrophenia
Talking Heads - Fear of Music

Shit, I just had to grab my ankles this morning in acquiring this long OOP print vinyl disc:

I'd rather not say how much I paid for it since the item has technically not shipped yet. *knocks on wood*

The only thing I'm planning on picking up at this point are the Husker Du and Public Image Ltd. reissue 7"'s. I do usually end up buying more than I planned on every year though.

It turns out it is noticeably better. It's obviously still very compressed, but it doesn't sound anywhere near as loud.

I wish I'd never seen that Amazon has decent pricing on some vinyl. I also picked up Ride's Nowhere, Jeff Buckley's Grace and a few others.

I just dont listen to 7" singles. I bought a few last year and they are just sitting around. I see the collectible appeal though. It's tempting to buy a bunch. I've found quite a few LPs I will be buying on 4/20. And the PIL album reissue will be out soon enough.

I wouldn't mind picking up that No Alternative release on vinyl. I bought the CD day one when it came out and still listening to it often.
