Mondo's price is $23 plus shipping. When they announced it, some record stores were unhappy because that price is very close to the cost that they had to pay to get it in their stores. Locally, you'll most likely see it for $35 to $40.

Thanks. I just ordered from mondo. Hopefully I don't have a quality issue.

What sleeves do you guys recommend for oversized jackets? The new DW edition of Twin Peaks is a pretty package but it doesn't even begin to fit inside a regular plastic sleeve. What are my options here?

Just got my shipping confirmation for the Stranger Things score. I got the Amoeba exclusive, which is the "netherworld" splatter version.

I picked up the clear smoke from the store today.

The VMP records came yesterday, very pleased with the packaging and presentation. Next month's record is The Lemon of Pink by The Books, so I got in at a good time.

I'm only interested in the Middle Brother 10" and possibly the Ramones live record.

Vinyl Me Please is having a 20% off sale in their store today and tomorrow. I bought the new Bowie box and Leonard Cohen along with a few others.

Also Mondo is selling a gorgeous reissue of the Fight Club soundtrack: https://mondotees.com/products/fight...oundtrack-2xlp

I'm digging that Fight Club LP set.

I'd like to have Fight Club AND the Marvel releases from last week. Too much good stuff lately. The final series of Music Matters Blue Notes has begun as well.

Screw it - I went for the Fight Club set.

I'll get that Bangles RSD disc

Supermallet 11-17-16 04:45 PM

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I went a bit overboard but this is what the vinyl I've purchased between yesterday and today:

Vinyl Me Please:
Yoko Ono, Plastic Ono Band
Sleigh Bells, Jessica Rabbit
Keith Jarrett, The Koln Concert
John Coltrane, A Love Supreme
Beck, Sea Change
Leonard Cohen, You Want It Darker
David Bowie, Who Can I Be Now? (1974-1976)

Mondo:
The Dust Brothers, Fight Club

Music Millennium (local shop):
Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here (2016 repress of 2011 Doug Sax remaster)
Pink Floyd, The Wall (2016 remaster)
Cat Stevens, Tea For The Tillerman (Analogue Productions)
The Beatles, Revolver (2014 mono)

And I'm going to pick up the Animals remaster when it comes out early next month.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Also I just noticed that Iron Maiden's Brave New World is on the RSD list. I wonder if they're finally issuing their 2000 and on albums on black vinyl. So far only the newest album has been released on black vinyl, the rest are on picture discs that sound terrible.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I'm a little tempted by the Fight Club release because the physical package looks so cool, but I just don't like the music from that score very much these days.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

It's sold out, so... tempted as you may be, you're not getting it. Unless you buy it from a reseller on Discogs or eBay or something. :)

For VMP members, (ie: Supermallet), how many records do you get in each monthly package? It seems like you're happy with it, but I'm just curious if there's things you like/dislike about the thing. I might convince my wife to buy me a year-long subscription. :)

You get one record club album per month (the "record of the month" they have listed on the website). That is what your subscription is paying for. You then also get access to their web store, which you can shop at to add on to your monthly shipment. I only bought so many additional albums because they were running a 20% off sale and happened to have some good prices versus elsewhere ($209 before discount for that Bowie box set for example). Previously I had only bought albums from the back catalog of records of the month, like their exclusive of The Fugees' The Score.

It's a fun thing. The record of the month is almost always colored some interesting way, and sometimes they even completely redo all the packaging, like they just did for The Books' The Lemon of Pink. Each album comes with an art print and a cocktail recipe. It's not earth shattering but I'm enjoying it.

Have you guys ever went to a RSD and not found the one or two specific albums you were looking for? If so, what do you do?

Supermallet 11-18-16 01:04 AM

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Not all stores get every item in stock, and obviously they could sell out before you get the chance to grab it. You just have to try hitting another store, or ebay.

discogs will have them. Prices can be comparable but one has to take the shipping price into consideration.
