Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

We’re just a few days away from the release of the remastered "Master of Puppets" album and deluxe box set! Support your local indie music stores on November 10th - purchase the "Master of Puppets" remaster and receive a special throw-back gift of "Live at Festival Hall, Osaka Japan – November 18th, 1986" on cassette. Quantities are very limited and are only available at independent retail stores in the U.S. and the U.K. (At participating stores, while they last.)

And for those of you who purchased your copy at Metallica.com, a few lucky fans will receive an extra package in the coming weeks!

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

Looking forward to hearing the Puppets remaster.

Really REALLY hope we get AJFA next year with an alternate mix. I would buy whatever deluxe edition necessary to get that.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

Got my deluxe set yesterday. Man this thing is huge. It's a little thicker than the first two albums. I also noticed they dropped the total print run to 25000. I don't even know where I want to start with this thing.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

Heard good things about the Master vinyl remaster, (RE-Master of Puppets!), so I picked it up, and damn, they're right, it sounds phenomenal - you can really crank it and it won't break apart - great dynamic range!

I believe Chris Bellman cut it and by all accounts it sounds excellent. Unfortunately the CD remaster is not nearly as good. I’m still rocking a vinyl rip of a white vinyl issue from years ago that sounds as good as I’ve ever heard the album.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

My favorite vinyl versions are the old 45RPM double vinyl versions of the first 3 albums released in the mid-80s. Always sounded much better than the original vinyl editions.

Well apparently I was looking at early reports on he CD and they were too harsh. The word now is that it’s one of the better digital masterings available.

REISSUES RE-REVISITED - GARAGE DAYS EP COMING APRIL 13TH

The remastered, reissue is re-revisited! That's right, next up in our series of reissues is The $5.98 EP - Garage Days Re-Revisited, available for pre-order now and in stores on April 13th in time to celebrate Record Store Day. The long out of print EP included five songs that were later released as a part of the Garage, Inc. double album, but we thought it would be fun to bring them back now in the original format straight from 1987!

Keeping with our 80's theme, the remastered EP will not only be released as a CD and download, but also as several vinyl versions including a picture disc, as a cassette, and in a longbox (you youngsters can search the web for that term!). All Metallica.com pre-orders will receive an instant grat single of the remastered version of "The Wait."

The reissue series will continue this year... we'll let you guess what's next (!).

Tracklisting:

Helpless
Originally released by Diamond Head
The Small Hours
Originally released by Holocaust
The Wait
Originally released by Killing Joke
Crash Course in Brain Surgery
Originally released by Budgie
Last Caress / Green Hell
Originally released by The Misfits

Remastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering, Hollywood, CA.

The $5.98 EP - Garage Days Re-Revisited will be available in the following formats:
  • CD
  • Limited Edition CD with a Lenticular Longbox
  • LP (180g black vinyl)
  • Limited Edition Colored LP (180g red-orange vinyl - only available at Metallica.com and at Indie Retail)
  • Limited Edition LP Picture Disc (Metallica.com Exclusive)
  • Limited Edition Cassette (with the entire EP on both sides, just like the original)
  • Streaming & Download

<iframe width="780" height="438" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/u8rfB1GNS24" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

In typical 80s fashion, the CD will arrive in a special limited edition longbox featuring a lenticular cover.

Metallica.com exclusive!

This colored vinyl release is available on Metallica.com and at independent retail.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

Beat me to it!!!

As I predicted/wished, we are seeing an independent Garage Days!! Yea!!

My buddy had that cassette and man, it was hard not to hold on to it when I borrowed it. Hahah. I’ll be getting the vinyl and hope it follows the same format of all songs on one side lol

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

Is there a benefit in the remastering of this version vs the previous Garage collection? Just the novelty of the packaging?

I understand the need to remaster the early albums and collect rare outtakes, but this one... hmm... it was raw when released, and will still sound raw in a remaster, plus I own the Garage collection.

Still excited about the possibilities of the upcoming Justice remaster.
