Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I listed to the new version of Wildest Dreams and it does sound different than the original after the first chorus

I prefer the 2014 version

I suppose that what really irked me was that a rich and famous person giving a gift to the daughter of a rich and famous person was considered (1) national news, and (2) a moving and heartwarming story. But, of course, that two sore points for me because I hate the rich and sentimentality. But I see now that my error was coming into the thread and posting something mildly critical of Swift because that is interpreted as me saying she is a horrible person.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I finished the Santa Clara concert on YouTube

I know maybe a lot of people and probably critics think Folklore and Evermore might be her best stuff artistically but they are boring as fuck.

I wanted to get to the 1989 and the pop albums and she briefly sang Style and Wildest Dreams and not the complete songs but spent almost 1 hr with the slow and boring songs.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Thank you Jeff for providing a legitimate criticism of Taylor Swift.
I agree (and I think most would) that the folklore and evermore stuff isn’t really stadium material and doesn’t work great in that setting. I still really loved those albums and was pleasantly surprised to hear them in concert. That said, I was really surprised we got so many from those two albums and would have been fine with half as much material (willow, august, betty, champaign problems, cardigan and tolerate it would have been plenty). They also might have worked better as a single set rather than two.
Still it’s a 3 1/2 hour concert and whatever your favorite Taylor song or era is, it was probably represented on whatever night you saw.

A missed opportunity at one of the SoFi shows where Kendrick Lamar could have done a Bad Blood duet unless he was busy or never contacted.

To be fair, she didn't contact me for a duet, either.

JeffTheAlpaca,

Karlie and Taylor "could have been been an item" (to use celebrity magazine parlance) but the Scooter Braun debacle pretty much ended it. Kloss is still siding by Braun even now.

Swifties were delighted to see that Kloss watched the last LA show from the 300s instead of the VIP tent.

I bought my Medium Beige Eras Tour Shirt but have to wait

At least it was not $122.90 for sales tax that we get charged in CA when I put a unlocked Iphone Pro Max 14 in my Apple shopping bag

No I did not buy it.

"Taylor Swift The Eras International Tour Beige T-Shirts are expected to ship on October 12, 2023.

Please note we are doing our best to deliver your order on time, however, we may experience delays somewhere along the way as we try to keep everyone safe."

Swift's own management team determines who can be seating in the VIP tents. They don't want Karlie Kloss anywhere near those tents.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Is it true or just marketing that this is only available for 48 hrs at her website?

The artwork is better than the standard edition

Believe it. She limits stuff all the time. That's how she still sells a zillion physical albums when nobody else sells jack shit.

In other news, End Game : TV incoming!

What sucks (and what's brilliant) is that there's still two more covers/colors to be reveled.
But since this one is on sale for only two days, you have to decide now, and if you end up liking the other ones better, then FOMO's gonna get you!

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

She turned down the Super Bowl 58 performance in 2024 like we expected.

I bet she wants to do Super Bowl 60 and that would be the ultimate marketing ploy with the 60th anniversary and the long wait for Swifties is over as she finally performs at the Super Bowl.

It would suck she might be performing in the afternoon sun and not at night with the CA sunshine in Santa Clara.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

There was literally no way she could possibly play Super Bowl LVIII since she would be performing in Tokyo the night before. Don't know why anyone considers it "news", but it was all over my Twitter feed for some reason.
Cochella is still on the table, at least in theory.

I bet NBC hopes she does not perform at Super Bowl 59 on FOX.

Imagine how big the Eras Tour was and combine a Swift halftime show with the gigantic football or the people who watch just for the ads or the spectacle audience and that game will break the all time Super Bowl viewership numbers.

I think it’s been reported that she has declined to play the show. It’s not impossible but she’s playing in Japan the night before. The question would be why would she do it? The Super Bowl halftime show is only for promotion. Artists don’t get paid and she’s already the biggest thing currently out there. Not sure if the NFL would really want her. I can only imagine what ticket prices would be and there is the chance that a third to half the audience leaves after half time.

For all the people in the clip. JFC get a life. What do they think that she’s going to drop a set or something? Have considerations for the neighbors.
