Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread
Happy Birthday, Tay-Tay (and to a third of Haim as well). Glad it was better than the one you had 11 years ago.

Who saw a Swift - Blur feud coming?

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread
After a day of getting eviscerated on Twitter by everyone from random Swifties to the President of Chile, the guy from Blur and Gorillaz apologizes, and simultaneously blames everything on the media.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread
I liked End Game their other collaboration better

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread
That is a truly awful song

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread
Well as we suspected, my favorite pre-Indie Taylor Swift album, 1989, is next up for the Taylor's Version treatment.
This Love is one of my least favorite songs on the album. Her new version is pretty though, really highlighting her improvements as a vocalist. |

1989 is not next to be re-released. She only released This Love because it's being used in a movie trailer. Just like when she released Wildest Dreams a few months ago which was also being used in a movie trailer.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread
I would prefer 1989 over Speak Now as the next re-release.
I opened the CD of her new version of Fearless Saying that I still prefer You Belong to Me the original over her new 2021 version. |

Oh. Well if she has re-recorded at least two tracks from that album, it makes sense that would be the next title to get a Taylor’s Version. Also a bunch of 1989 stuff went up on her store (though to be fair, so did some Speak Now stuff). I just assumed that was coming next.

Taylor Swift gets honorary degree from New York University
Taylor Swift has Grammys galore and now she has a new title — “doctor.” The superstar received an honorary doctorate of fine arts from New York University on Wednesday, blowing kisses as the crowd roared when she walked toward the stage at a packed Yankee Stadium. Sporting her signature red lipstick and newly awarded honorary robe, Swift joked to the thousands of graduates assembled: “I’m 90% sure the main reason I’m here is because I have a song called 22. “I never got to have a normal college experience per se. I went to public high school until 10th grade and then finished my education doing home school work on the floor of airport terminals,” Swift said in her commencement speech. |
Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread
My daughter is so bummed that she graduates NYU in 2023 instead of this year.

It's a glorious day for me!
Taylor Swift Announces New Album Midnights, Breaks Record for Most Video of the Year Wins at 2022 VMAsThe LP, “the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life,” comes out October 21Taylor Swift won the Video of the Year award at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards tonight (August 28) for her 10-minute song “All Too Well: The Short Film.” After accepting the award, Swift thanked her fans and revealed that her “brand new album“ will come out October 21. She later revealed We lie awake in love and in fear, in turmoil and in tears. We stare at walls and drink until they speak back. We twist in our self-made cages and pray that we aren’t—right this minute—about to make some fateful life-altering mistake. This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching—hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve…we’ll meet ourselves. This was Swift’s third time taking home the trophy, which means she officially broke the record for the most VMAs Video of the Year awards with three wins. Swift previously earned the award with 2015’s “Bad Blood” and 2019’s “You Need to Calm Down.” “I know with every second of this moment that we wouldn’t have been able to make this short film if it weren’t for you, the fans,” she said. “Because I wouldn’t be able to re-record my albums if it weren’t for you. You embolden me to do that. I had sort of made up my mind that if you were going to be this generous and give us this, I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand new album comes out October 21. And I will tell you more at midnight.” Up until now, the record for most Video of the Year wins was tied between four artists, each of whom took home two awards: Swift, Beyoncé (“Single Ladies” and “Formation”), Rihanna (“Umbrella” and “We Found Love”), and Eminem (“The Real Slim Shady” and “Without Me”). https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...be990d1936.png |

I’ll watch that show.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread
One of the last big name performers who has not done that show and a obvious selection to do it.
She has a deal with Coke but never saw her do a TV or any publicity for Coke and that was the major conflict with the Pepsi halftime show? |
Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread
I would also assume that this performance is a warm-up for a stadium tour. She hasn’t performed a full concert since November 2018 as her Reputation Tour was cut short by the pandemic.
She’ll have four full albums of new material (plus some other songs from the re-releases) to perform for the first time. |

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread
I went to the “1989” tour in Seahawks stadium back in—yikes—2015, and that material was perfect for stadiums. It’ll be interesting to see how the new material plays.
This got me in the mood to listen to 1989 again! |
Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread
She turned down the offer.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread
But she will never get that opportunity gain
They should get Post Malone for the 2023 show I don't think I ever saw those Coke ads unless they were done in 2013 or 2014 and forgot about them. |
Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread
Rihanna tweeted a pic of her arm holding up a football so I think maybe she is doing the half time show now.
