remakes you like better than the original

before any of your snarky mothereffers post a link to a similar themed thread, know that I searched and searched, and couldn't find one.

With that said:

I prefer these versions over the originals:

I prefer City Wolf's version of "Where Is My Mind?" to The Pixies'.

I can't link to YouTube right now, but it's the song playing during the climax of Observe & Report.

I wish I could find this version of that song:

I've found lots of similar versions, but not quite the same.

I'm going back aways, but I actually like Anne Murray's version of The Beatles "You Won't See Me." (The Beatles version is a little annoying, with all of that "laa-laa-laa" stuff.)

Re: remakes you like better than the original

I could probably say that about any cover Type O did really. They had a knack for it.

I'll go with Stone Cold Crazy. I love Queen but the Metallica version kicked ass. One of the last cool things they did.

Amen to that. I'll forever miss their unique take on classics. I think my favorite is Summer Breeze.

As for STC... while the Metallica version is, indeed, kick ass, have you heard the version by Queens of the Stone Age? It's terrible.

Continuing with Metallica, their version of Breadfan destroys the original.

But seriously, here are a few of my favorites:

Anyone that claims that synthesizers are "soulless" needs to listen from the 2:00 mark on in this track and then needs to have a re-think.

Vitamin String Quartet. They do LOTS of cool covers. I won't post links, but I've seen their whole Pixies tribute album floating around out there.

That is really a great cover. I just downloaded the song and have been listening to it for the last twenty minutes. Thanks for that link, never heard of the band before.

That is the similar versions I was referring to. None of the examples on youtube seem to be the same arrangement.

Yeah, I really got into that song a year or two ago, I probably listened to it too much.
